I'm thinking for buying a new Glock 19 locally, but I really am not that familiar with any of the local gun shops around here. I don't want to get ripped off, so what is a fair price for the G19 new and what kinds of things should I be looking for, questions should I ask, when buying?

Thank you!

I would agree with Ikor, $500 - $525 would be fair. This is assuming it is new, 3rd Generation, S/N Fxx or above, and the pistol includes high capacity magazines. I mention the S/N as some dealers have some old inventory, and the last thing you want is to pay for something new and possibly get an older model (E s/n) possibly affected by the frame upgrade.

Thanks for the info. I will check those things out when I look. I am probably going to go to a local dealer first and see if they are any good. If I can't find it locally then I will try some of the people on this site.

I bought my new OD green 19 for $560 out the door, with a third 15 rd mag included.

Sales tax is a killer.

I don't know what sales tax and background check run where you are at, but based on wholesale pricing when I left the store I worked at in March $525 pre-tax & BG check or less for a new G19 is fair. Anything lower is a good deal for you.

I paid $503.27 (5% tax and $2.00 VA Transfer Fee)  a piece for a G19 and G17 w/Trijicons.  That's with the Military discount. Without the discount and standard sights they are $515. My store is Quantico Arms in Quantico, Virginia. Either way that's not bad for Glocks.

Never forget to look for a used model.

2 or my 3 Glocks were bought used. And you can't tell them from the one I got new. After 1000's upon 1000's of rounds, with a cleaning when I fell like getting around to it, which is not often, and you really can't tell which one started out new in the box.

Around here they're usually $500 unless you add night sights. The gun shop I bought mine from has almost all models for $499 and they regularly run sales on them for $479. I bought my G19 in November of 2002 for $479 during one of those sales.

Almost all Glock models "should" be the same price.
It varies by region. I've seen people saying that the local price is 600 or more. But usually 500-550 is the going rate for almost all models when brand new.

Thanks, I'll give this a try. Does it include two 15rd mags, and all the standard accessories at that price?

Last night on my way home I realized that I had to get an oil filter for my car because it's needs an oil change. I stopped by the local NAPA auto parts store and what do you know? They're a gun dealer too!

I ended up ordering the G19 from them. I like to deal with local guys first if possible. Their price on the new 3rd gen G19 with 2 15rd mags and background check included was $499. I thought that was a great deal. It should be about $525 out the door once I pay tax.

I appreciate all the suggestions and responses. Thanks a lot!
