OUCH!  An authentic looking SCREW build!!!

I have to say- I think you wore the finish away in the WRONG places.  Just the sharp edges and the "high ground" or protrusions need to be worn, not the nooks and crannies or areas on the flat areas of the receiver protected from abrasions by protruding parts like the safety lever and stock parts...

Scharfschutz-

Can you give me a pic of how the sling is stretched around the stock?  Is that so you don't have to rest your cheek against the metal stock?

Here's a Polish UF I finished this week. Started as a kit from SG. All matching numbers and about 85% finish. I stripped, parked and guncoated everything. Built the reciever from a AKBuilder.com flat. The wood got stripped and boiled out. Lightly sanded, dyed and tung oiled. Once that dried I applied a few light coats of Minwax satin poly. Tested it yesterday at the range. It's a keeper! Shoots as good as it looks. This is my third build now. Second from a flat.

Details? Did you modify the handguards yourself? Is that a modified front sight?

Thanks man! I plan to eventually do two more just like it. Got everything set aside. Just need time to build.
Having done it from a flat, it's one of my favorites. VERY satisfying build!

Hey Sidecar, were did you get that bag for the underfolder?

I got one from a Polish soldier on EBay selling them. It's a Polish drop case.
I got another a while back from a guy on the AK Forum classifieds. He seems to be out of stock right now though.

I just letter stamped and serialized a AK Builder flat this evening to start another Polish UF build.

I'll have "Polish Twins" for my collection.

Never been fired:
Vector/Polish UF with armory USA receiver
homemade single-point sling
550 wrapped stock

* I wanting to change the hanguards and pistol grip to where they match.  The lighter colored wood is not for me.  If anyone has a lead on where to look let me know.

Not a US part.  I bought some here.  All 3 were like new.

Orange/Tan Bakelite Grips

I have one of them. I wished they made those here in the US. Or I guess I can do like Tapco and just stamp "US TAPCO" on it LOL!! On that note, I caint tell any difference between the tapco slant break and the originals other than the tapco being blued and stamped US tapco. Here is my latest build.

At last, MY turn to post here!

It's an NDS-1P receiver, not my build though, I'm not that good yet. I re-did the wood; it had about a half inch of crappy polyurethane on it, some of which actually had some FOAM in it, I swear.

All in all a very pretty rifle. Couple little flaws, like this rivet here ...

... which was installed directly under the edge of the folder. I didn't notice at first, just thought the folder was kinda stiff. No biggie. The edge of the folder will probably just cut off a piece of the rivet head eventually.

Also, there are no notches on the receiver for the safety selector to fall into. I'll have to do something about that one I think. Only question is what to spot-refinish with when I do.

I wish I could keep mine like this:

But I needed a good HD/SHTF gun, so I modernized it.  I need a good optic, instead of the fakepoint, and I'm nowhere near done, but it's a start:

It took longer than anticipated, but it was well worth the wait...Mike & the guys at Missouri Custom Armament really built me a nice one!

Here's the details on the build:
It started out as a 1984-dated Polish Underfolder kit I got from Greentimber. The kit had a great deal of finish wear but was mechanically in Excellent condition. The handguards were the solid type instead of the laminated variety. "Mad Props" to Z_recto...he was able to hook me up with a set of "New" laminated handguards, a "New" Polish bakelite pistol grip and a "New" sling. I then needed a laminated buttstock and rear block and was able to get those items from Laukart. This rifle wouldn't have been possible without the help of these Gentlemen...

The U.S.-made compliance parts are a G2 Single Hook FCG, an Arsenal USA gas piston and Tapco slant brake.

The rifle was built on a NoDak Spud NDS-1 Premium receiver.

The metal is finished with semi-gloss Norrell's Moly-Resin. I refinished the wood myself with a custom-blended stain finished off with several coats of Formby's Low-Gloss formula Tung Oil Finish. I then rubbed it down with "0000" steel wool to cut down on the shine even more.

Enough with the details, here are the pictures:

Well, while I'm here, I might as well share some pictures of the Polish Underfolder that Mike & the guys at Missouri Custom Armament built for me a little over a year ago...

It started as a 1978-dated Collector's Grade kit from Dan's Ammo. It was built on a NoDak Spud NDS-1 Premium receiver. Compliance parts are a G2 Single Hook FCG, an Arsenal USA gas piston, and U.S.-made slant brake.

The metal is finished in semi-gloss Norrell's Moly Resin. I refinished the wood myself with Minwax Red Mahogany stain and Minwax Satin-finish Spar Urethane.

Here's the pictures:

Here's both rifles together...

I finished accessorizing my AK.  I prefer it with the wood, but I can only afford one rifle, and I need a good HD/SHTF rifle.  Someday I'll get another AK that I can switch this stuff to and restore mine to it's origional beauty, but for now it gets to be tacticool.

Polish PKMKS (AKMS) with Norrell's Moly Resin finish (semi-gloss black)
UTG quad rail handguard
UTG OD rail covers
UTG OD vertical foregrip w/ extra batteries for light
Surefire G2 setup to be weapon light
CAA modular pistol grip w/ rubber inserts
Custom neoprene insulating covers for underfolder
Metal european magazines with US made floorplate (for compliance) and Wolf MC hollow points for defense
Smoke ProMag magazines loaded with Brown Bear FMJ for the range (not reliable enough for defense, but convenient on the range)
