Seems kinda wierd posting pics of my 5.45 babies on ar15.com, but whatever! Apologies to those who have already seen these on "that other board" - a proud papa's gotta brag! Here's mine. It is a Centerfire Systems Romak 992 that has been converted to accept standard capacity mags. It has a Kobra II dot sight on it and I replaced the stock muzzle brake with a actual Romainian one.

2nd pic on the page is my SAR1. I stripped the stock using a citrus based concoction from HomeDepot. Coated the wood with some run-of-them-mill Minwax American Walnut stain.
I used Alumahyde on the metal parts of the weapon and just did the Drummel chop of the trigger job last week. I polished the cut portion w/ a the Dremmel and was test firing in the photo. I am VERY impressed with how the trigger feels now! What a difference! Thought I'd share the pics w/ everyone... Thanks for looking! rob www.green-mountain-gear.com/photos2 |

This is my generic SAR-1 that my wife just gave me for my birthday. I did some trigger work on it and I like it alot more than I did. I want to put an AK-74 brake on it. Anybody got a good source for it? IM me.

Those are some nice looking AKs..
I think I've made up my mind on which AK I'm going to get now.. :) |

Here is a picture of my sweet SAR-1. This picture does not do my laminate p grip & handgards justice.

My two SARs...still working on them :) I am going to put a Krink-style stock on one of them...both triggers have been taken care of and the shoot GREAT! |
|
Yup...that is all original Romanian wood [:D]
Stripped off the nasty finish w/ a citrus-based stripper from Home Depot. It comes in a kit for about $10...can't remember the name right off. Sanded the heck outta the wood, Dremel in some spots and then put an American Walnut finish on it w/ a rag. It's not the most beautiful job up-close but does look "battle-hardend" to me. |

Lancelot, You can find this postban krink stock at the site listed below. These stocks are very durable and easy to install.

Thanks! I'm ordering an SAR1, now all I need to do is find one of the AK-74 style brakes for it. Any suggestions?

Don't know much about the WASR rifles though. |

Lancelot, Global Trades has the US made Ak-47 brakes available that will work on your SAR-1.
http://www.globaltrades.com/ You will need part # A-645 14mm reverse threaded AK-74 brake. This is a US part and it will need to be permanently attached (welded or silver soldered) to your rifle to make it leagal. I have this brake on my SAR-1 and it works great! |

This past weekend, I was able to take these two home; SAR1 and SAR2. I had already ordered the Red Dot Kobra and the Iluminated PSO scope ahead of time. The wood on both rifles looks great no sloppy work on them specially the SAR2.

Maxxx93,

|
actually, I got those brakes from Global Trades I *think*...or someplace called Hi-val or something like that. It was last year sometime. They're the set screw type; I don't know if K-Var has those. A buddy of mine wanted one, but by the time he called they were discontinued. The guy gave us the name of the manufacturer, but directory assistance didn't have a number for them.
AHA...it was AA-OK...just googled and got that...but I'm getting a "page not found" error for their website link. They may be kaput by now...I think I remember the guy saying they were getting out of the gun parts side of the business. |

SAR2 -metal refinished with a black Teflon / manganese enamel finish -stock set replaced with an unfinished Ironwood Design stockset and stained by myself. -replaced FSB with Rommy threaded one and muzzle brake -replaced gas block with a Romanina 90 degree one I have to give credit where credit is due. Gary of SAI actually did this for me back in January of 2001. I must say, he did a fantastic job on this rifle at that time. I'm sorry to read what has now been going on with him. I guess I need to hang out in the AK forums here more often, been missin' out on a lot I see. |
