Here's mine.  AMD-65 screw build on OOW receiver with all matching serial numbers.  Finished in gloss black Gunkote.  US parts are Tapco G2 HTS, Tapco Gas piston and US made walnut grips and handguards.  To allow the upper handguard to be installed I used a Bulgarian gas tube and cut it down and heated with a torch to bell the gas block end.

The tan one on the bottom was my original AMD; the OD green one was next, and I requested the ATI stock be installed.

This is what the tan AMD looked like when I got it.  The pics look cool, but the wood grips clash with the tan powder coat in real life.

This is what the tan one looks like now.  I installed an ATI forend and an AMD synthetic pistol grip at the rear.  I also replaced the tan receiver cover with a black one.  It needed more black to offset the tan.

2GUNTOM:

Wanna sell those wood pistol grips?

[#9]
Sell 'em?  Hmm...I sorta' had a plan for them, but it has been delayed.  I may not even need them, but I'm not sure.  I guess if I had to price them, I'd say $40 for both, you pay shipping.  I'll have to go to the shop and make sure I have all the hardware that goes with them, but I should.

Let me know if you're interested so I can verify, get everything together, and get a shipping quote.

How do I get the rivets out of the (trunnion block?)  or the block thats connected to the barrel?  It looks like Ill have to drill them out.  Some of the rivets look like they go ALL the way through or are the each separate coming in from opposite sides?  Can they be tapped out and pushed all the way through or should I drill them out?.  After I buy the receiver I woul like to find someone to rivet it for me...though the srews I can do myself.

[#11]
Since I only do rivet builds, I can't give you any info on a screw build.   To remove the rivets you must first remove the barrel retaining pin then remove the barrel.  The rivet heads are then ground/filed flush with the trunnion, then you push the filed rivet from the outside in.

None of the rivets on the front trunnion go all the way through.

I agree the walnut is awesome and the custom work makes it look just soo much better.  If i get one that would be exactly what I would want.

I shoot my AMD-65's more than my other AK's.  Didn't do the "original" build thing but they do attract attention at the range.  Both were made from TAPCO flats and both have red dot sights.  I can't believe how easy they are to shoot.  Nice flame pattern from the muzzle brakes too.

I have posted these pictures before but don't mind doing it again.

Thanks for the motivation. I'm working on a AMD 65, building in from a flat
except I'm using a Russian triangle folder. I'll post pic's when I'm done.

Wow, must be awesome to have an SBR'd AMD-65. I think all extensions on the barrel just look plain nasty. Nice Rifle !!

Hammer in PA, where did you get that side folding stock ? Does it just fit on a standard fixed rear trunnion ?

Hey what finish are you guys using on your rifles?,And where can i get it ,and how do you do it.? I would like a finish as close to original as possible.

I am not sure so some of you guys help me out here. I think the original AMDs had a black/blued finish on them.

I used Duracoat to camo the AMD in my pics. The solid black one was finished in Gun Kote.

One of these other guys should know more about the original finish.
