I'm committed to buying an AK!  I have to have one.  I checked out the SAR-1 and felt that I needed a step up.  This model (RF-109) caught my eye but I don't know much about it.  Can you help?  It's sold at www.atlanticfirearms.com/RF109B.jpg for $450.00
(AD from site)
AK-47 ,RF-109Ê Snubnose Rifle
"AK-47,RF-109 SnubnoseÊ Rifle, semi auto,762x39,This custom rifle is based on a imported romanian AK, upgraded with shortened chrome lined barrel, muzzle brake, black stock set, built in scope rail, beautiful smooth grey parkerized finish, these are nicley finished units , not rough like the cheap SAR 1,The RF-109 will take hi cap mags & drums & is backed up by a 1 year factory warranty."

Should I buy or look for a substitute? Thanks.

It looks like an SAR-1 with polymer furnature and a break welded on.

If it is done well, it is not a bad price. If you could put the break on yourself, you could do it cheaper by buying the SAR then adding the break and furnature.

I have never heard of Atlantic Firearms so I can not rate their quality.

Personally, I would buy an SA-M7 for about $100 more if I had the cash.

Yeah, I was thinking "BF109"  made by Ohio Rapid Fire as "RF-109"

You never know, they seem pretty ambitious...

Guys?

{Enough with the shiny objects}

Does anyone know of a AK carbine model that has a quality receiver, chrome lined, parkerized barrel with synthetic furniture?

Hang on... Hispano?  Are you saying that the above 109G is converted from one of those Spanish re-engined 109s?

That is a Spanish built version of the Me 109 made by Hisapno.

No, not converted, MADE by Hispano. They made threm into the early 1950s. Look at the cockpit.  It is a "K" model cockpit, but the rest of the plane does not fit any german model that I can think of.  The markings have been changed to look German, but are not all correct.

Arsenal, Inc. SAM-7S or SLR-101SB.  Couldn't be happier with my SLR-101 after changing out the factory FCG for one from Red Star Arms.

Aha, but it is a converted Spanish 109.  I know they made them, I meant converted from one they made to German spec.

It started as a Spanish Hispano-type, but a collector had it completely re-done into a near perfect G-10 replica, complete with DB605 ASCM engine.

It's markings are perfectly historical, although not entirely typical of most 109s.

So anyway, I don't see why you wouldn't recognize the type, as it is an exacting replica of a BF109 G-10.

Thats a hel of a conversion.  It is a "K" model frame for sure.  It has the Tropical front end, so I was thinking "G" 1-6, but it didn't look right.  I know the G-12, but not the G-10. Just to darn many to remember.

The paint job is nice, but needs to be more "dappled" for any "G" model. But with paint being $319 a gallon, I won't complain about the good job he did.

No matter what, it is still one sweet ass plane.

A few qualifiers for your linked gun above. Confirm if the poly stock has the nice heat sheilding up front or it will be much hotter than wood. I see no mention of a trigger swap, SAR/Century hts vary in quality.

Considering that a pro blast/park is about $75, adding a milspec poly stock makes this a nice deal.

Next is a jump to $550+ for Arsenal Inc, VEPR or AK-103.

Yeah, the G10 was basically a K4, only slight changes accured before the new designation.

Cool, any idea who owns the plane or where it is out of?

I know some P-51 jockies who would love to play.

Bob,
No the RF stands for really fast!  hahaha.  No stands for Rapid Fire.  Yes those guns marked as such are built/converted for Atlantic Firearms.  I would have to say it is the best, least expensive way to get into a carbine style, hicap, polymer stocked, Ak and stay under $500.

krink
is that a walnut stock?
quite nice looking
I am about to rethink what to do about my SAR1 now
I want to get blonde stocks for it but not sure waht fits the romanian SAR1
however my new RF109 looks mad in its olive furniture and grey park finish
cant wait to sling some lead with it
and what the story on that brake you have

The wood is original on the WASR.  Apparently the most recent WASRs have very nice wood.  ORF has "take-offs" from WASRs they have upgraded to green/black polymer furniture kits.  You might be able to contact them and purchase a set or two.

ORF puts Krinkov and AK74 style muzzle brakes on the ends of the rifles.  This one just happened to come with the krinkov style brake.

I'm interested in your "soon to be' pic to see if you have the grey parkerized or black.  I would like get one in OD Green but I can't seem to decide which color tone to get on the finish.

oh i have it already
its grey parked with OD green furniture
I would like to get the shorter stock but its really not that bad in the NATO length
I cant wait to shoot it tho
its nice and it looks pretty cool when i have my double 40 rounders attached to it
only prob is you cant run them side by side like my AR...u gotta flip them so you dont hit the safety lever or scope mount

Hell, you find the parts kit and we'll sure enough build it for ya!!
You'd have the only GunKoted semi auto RF-109 G10 on the block then. We'll even re serialize the engine block to match the airframe for ya!!
