The Original Diamondhead Sights are back and better than ever!
I've been using this product for a couple of years but it has largely been marketed to law enforcement and military users until now. I liked them so much that I began purchasing small batches to have on hand for the courses that I instruct. Over the past two years I have never had one returned. Clearly, not every piece of gear works for everyone but in my experience this has been overwhelmingly favored by those that get to see and use one. I just finished testing and evaluating the new generation Diamondhead front and rear sights on my personal rifle and here are some initial observations related to function.
Rear Sight
1.The lock/release button is larger and easier to manipulate which makes folding the sight more user friendly especially in cold/wet conditions or with gloved hands.
2. The shape and appearance maintain the same ultra low profile so fitting a folded rear Diamonhead underneath a scope is not an issue.
3. (My Favorite) The sight is designed so that it can be folded flat or extended with either the small or large aperture in place. So unlike other sights you do not have flip the aperture back and forth as you flip the sight up or down with use. The Shooter has their choice of aperture and the sight stays ready.
4. The Diamonhead can be mounted anywhere on an accessory rail and be completely folded down, unlike most rear sights that require it to be mounted at the rear most location to allow it to rest in the charging handle groove( For example on an AR type platform). Some shooters prefer to mount the rear sight farther forward on the rail and this sight accommodates that flexibility. This is also an advantage for use on non AR type platforms.
5. There are two laser etched dots or “Horizon Marks on the on both sides of the outer sight body. This helps pull the shooters attention in toward the aperture and target especially in low light conditions.
Front Sight
As I alluded to above the The Diamondhead Folding rear sight works great with standard A2 and even hooded front sights. However, if you have the option of combining both the front and rear Diamondhead sights on your gun the results are even more positive. The corners of the Front DiamondHead shape fit so naturally within the corners of the rear Diamondhead aperture, which centers the front post automatically. Getting on target faster, more accurately, and with less effort gives the user a tremendous advantage especially when seconds count. Whether you shoot for enjoyment or as part of your profession the Diamondhead is a true advantage.
Professionals know that its the small details matter and the DiamondHead gets the details right. .
2. The front Diamondhead sight accepts standard sight adjustment tools as well as tritium inserts.
Quality and durability are second to none.
The Diamondhead aperture has been recognized as the fastest, easiest and most accurate aperture available. Up until now, the Diamondhead aperture has only been available installed in other brands of sights. Now, Diamondhead USA is producing their own brand of sights that are as superior as their aperture.
What makes this aperture so effective? In short, the overall shape/design of the Diamondhead lends its self to a faster more accurate target acquisition because of how it assists the shooter to center the front post within the aperture.
In addition to the unique internal aperture shape, the Diamondhead's external outline is accented by 3 posts or quick reference points that help draw the shooter's focus in naturally where it needs to be.
Whether you use the rear Diamondhead sight with a standard A2 front sight or the new Folding Diamondhead sight you will see the difference from the old style peep aperture. The Diamondhead rear sight even works with the hooded HK style front sights.
Whats even better is that diamondhead-usa is 100% made in the USA!
