I realize this is not an "BiPod" thread, but with all of these pictures of these AR's I was wondering if someone could give me some advice...

Hello, new to the AR. I am setting up my new Smith & Wesson MP 15T and I am now looking for a bi-pod. From the reviews I have read, I see that Harris is the "house-hold" name. I do however looking for some advice because I am not sure what the best model to choose from...

First, I will shoot mainly from prone or bench position. So the question is HEIGHT. I was thinking 9"-13" or should I go with 6"-9" ?  Next, TYPE...Standard Legs, Notch Legs, Swivel, Standard/Swivel, or Notch/Swivel ?

I know everyone has their preference, but would like to hear what pro's and con's of each so I can make the right choice. I am 6'2' 195lbs (if this makes a difference)

Also, any Picatinny adapter recommendation? All the same basically? PROMAG ok?

Again, thanks for your help!

Get the LaRue QD Harris Bipod combo.  It is fantastic because the QD mount allows you to quickly take it off if you want to run CQB drills or put it on another rifle.

Thanks for all of the great pics.  I have my Del Ton upper and am getting ready to order my lower.  I am leaning toward the Eotech 556.a65/1 W/ magnifier.  Didn't see any of these shown, anyone have a pic and experience they want to share?

Does your front site get in the way.  I really like that scope mount, but I dont want my front site to be in the way of the scope line.

Imported from Israel during the 1990's. I have had one since 2005 it is on its second battery the other I just picked up about 3 months ago. Both work perfectly. The red dot is a little on the large side about 5-6 moa dot but it is varable brightness depending on the sun.  They hold a great zero and are built like Abrams main battle tanks. I have used one in 3 gun a few times just for the heck of it. Dot is a little too large for anything past 200m. But.... for CQB distances I would use a Elbit Falcon over a Eo Tech / Aimpoint any day.
pic- from 2007

There was one on Ebay a month ago I was bidding on (I was going for a third one)! I didnt get it I got outbid, it sold I think for $400. That is the average price you can find working ones for anywhere between $350-$450.

On top...midlength?....very nice.  I think that is what I would like my current build to end up looking like.

Ok, here's a stupid question...

In an above post by alpha romero, he's got an AR that has a small piece of straight plastic or metal on the side of the reciever.

Just above the trigger group on the side of the reciever.

What is that and what's the purpose?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Hi K Soda, I just bought the Aimpoint Compm4s and want to add the 3x mag as you did.   Question is do you need to add a spacer to use your a flip up MBUS to Co witness the CompM4s?   I have the Colt 6920 LE Magpul with the magpul furniture.
Thanks and nice arsenal you have there!

Apologies if this is covered somewhere else.

Been away from AR's for almost 20 years.  Just procured two for wife and I.

Advice I have read indicated back iron sights for optics.  Is there a way to mount such that iron sights usable without removing optics?  Getting Nikon scope and wanted to still be able to use iron sights without taking off each time.

Thanks Cameron
