I have heard people mentioning new and old style pmags on this forum..

What is the difference between the two and how do you identify them?

Also does this apply to both window and non windowed versions?  (I am talking about 30 rounders)

Thanks!

Left to right: New Pmag, old Pmag, and EMAG

According to a post I read somewhere from someone, the window version will be changed- eventually.

(They are the same length,btw)

So what's the difference between the old pmag and the new one?

I see the new one has some kind of a clip on the bottom... what's that for?

That is the impact cover.... now, you can retain it with the magazine, instead of losing it. It simply clips onto the bottom of the magazine, like it clips to the top.

They also got rid of the opaque "windows".

That's the dust cover that is shown in place on the top of the second mag.  It snaps onto the bottom of the mag for storage.

It fits in Euro guns, like the FS2k, SA80, 416 and others that take standard M16 mags, but have oddball magwells which prevent the easy insertion of PMags.

One of the diffs from the mag on the left to the center mags is that the center mag has a divider that extends to the top of the mag the new one stops a bout 1/2" from the top.

Old PMAGs were way cheaper than new PMAGs.
