These are probably the only PMAGS that interest me.
I have a ton of aluminum GI mags, so the PMAGS would be just for the CDI factor. |
THose would look awesome on a converted SL8 or an HK416, but they would look great just about anywhere. Looking forward to adding two (dozen) to my stash.
Beauties, and if they run as well as my other pmags they will definitely find a way into my collection
Thanks Stick, I can see the smokiness now. I hope they can make them as
durable as the original PMAG. I will be picking up quite a few of these once they are released. |
I'll be wanting a few of those. Give a 'heads up' if possible when it nears the release date for us mortals.
I just got back from the military ranges, and these got dumped onto the concrete pad numerous times (loaded and unloaded). Durability doesn't look like its going to be an issues with these. |
They just need to be for sale now |
I don't mean durable in that way, but in the way of solvents, oils, etc. getting on it. I was told by Magpul that the clear polymer is less resistent to such things and that they are working hard to get the right mix. |
Reminder to my self to try some various solvents and oils on my test mags. I'd post pics but I feel inadequate around Sticks pics. |

Stick,
Can you post a pic (or some) here that shows the different PMAG color variations? I have searched through about 20 pages of threads and can't find one that shows OD, FDE, and FG all beside each other to get a good comparison. Thanks for your help, Alan |
Not my pic but from TPD USA posted on the TPD-AXR Bullpup thread in the Arms & Tactics General Firearm Discussion Section Another pic from the TPD-AXR Bullpup thread This pic from TPDUSA.com website which shows the experimental clear PMAG and the AXR rifle Stickman might be sworn not to say the details of this smoked PMAGs but I could. These smoked PMAGs are being made and tested by Magpul for TPDUSA.com which is making the AXR rifle, a US made Steyr AUG style rifle that takes AR-15 mags. The smoked material comes from TPD USA and are currently being tested and evaluated, they're stronger than the original AUG mags and also solvent resistant. Per TPD USA these clear PMAGs should be available in about a month from now which their new AXR rifle will also be in the market. NIce looking mags!!!!!
Do you need to keep the cap on the end so the rounds dont come flying out randomly? |
First on MagPuls marketing list should be getting a high quality slo mo video of an M4 doing mag dumps with those.
DAMN IT STICKMAN!!!
Would you PLEASE stop posting your beautiful pics of those smoke Pmags.... Your killing me here! |
Stickman, These smoke, clear Magpul P magsare the only Magpul mags that I saw that I liked and ready to buy 10 to add to my USGI Magsbunch.
Aren't the smoked Pmags made from the same mold that the Gen II solid colored Pmags are made from? If so, feeding shouldn't be an issue, right?
I would think the only question would be how the new plastic compound stands up to use and abuse. I just think they need to be shipped out NOW! |
I nearly creamed my shorts reading the title...
Any idea if they're going to have any shorter, OR capacity challenged PMags (ala Kalifornia spec) |
I need smoke colored rail covers so i can see the T marks without removing the rail covers. |
Dammit....so far I have resisted the pmag mania that has broken out here, but those are going to test my will.
Now that someone has broached the subject I am pondering what smoked furniture will look like, interesting concept, with distorted views of the interior of the gun, it might help beak up the profile and work well as a sort of variable camo, helping blend in with the background be being able to see the background. Interesting. |
Yeah, that gives me a great idea for a new set of BDU's. |
Those look better than I was expecting.
might have to get some |
damn and i just bought flat dark earth, will have to get some of those too.
my real reason for posting is i wonder how u tell the difference in the gen 1 and gen 2 mags? are they marked because i just got mine in today and i dont know which ones they are. |
03/07 are eariler feed lip design. 04/07 are newer. Both can be upgraded for free to the latest 07/07 mods at no cost on our web site starting this weekend. |
Plans are to start TPD PMag production in about 2-3 weeks if testing results come back ok.
We are planning to make new sides for the mold for these which will have numbers on the side for 20 and 30 rounds remaining. It will not have the window slot and so should look cleaner. |
What about the windowed Pmag, I got a couple, but have yet to try them out, are they also being upgraded? |
As long as these come in $20 or less I think I might have to pick one up just for 'beauty shots' of my AR.
Just to throw in my 2 cents.
With first gen PMAG's I only had one issue in a Practical Rifle match. With 30 rounds it wouldn't lock in place and double fed once causing a jam. (This was a pre-release mag before they went for sale. Don't know if they were changed at all before release) With my 2nd gen PMAG's I haven't had any problems but I have only shot 2 of the 4 one time each. I shot a smoked one through my AR and it worked flawlessly doing a full mag dump. I will be getting some smoked and/or windowed ones eventually for PR so I can see what I have left in the mag. |
I want one of those for educational/novelty value to show others the internals.
It's the only PMAG I'd own and then only one. |
TPD PMAG as shown in TPD's website will be $21.95 which are not bad compared to the original Steyr AUG mags which are weaker and less solvent resistant. I'm going to pick up a few for shooting range use for my AR and for my AUG A1 M16 NATO mag conversion carbine. http://www.tpdusa.com/products.php?cat=7 |
Heck that isn't a bad price. now if Brownells or MidwayUSA will start carrying them I'll be all set. |
These are sweet! I would probably pick up a few, like 6....
Will regular magpul followers interchange with pmag followers? |
