Posted this in the CProducts forums but got no response. I am thinking that I'll get some better info here:
So I have been hearing some rumors that CProducts may be producing some colt-style 9mm mags for us! If so, are there any updates on the project? Specs, pricing and so forth? If I may suggest, please, please, please make us some 20 rounders. Not only are they super hard to find now-a-days but they are crazy expensive. 20 rounders also makes things easy for us here in Maryland. Anyway, any news??? |
I don't know if the tooling is complete on the 9mm magazines yet. C Products has just launched the SS line of mags in 5.56, 68SPC and 6.5G. I believe the 7.62x39 AR mags are next, then the 9mm Colt-style. A guess on my part would be that there would not be a big enough market for 20rd mags to invest in the tooling and preparation to make it worth while. Maybe a company could buy the larger capacity 9mm mags and permanently block them, like some have with 15rd mags for HJ.

Well, looks like it may be a while for the CProducts 9mm mags then...
Tigerstripe, I will have to respectfully disagree with you on the 20 round mag thing however. I honestly think they would sell a lot of 20's if they produced them. If you look on the equipment exchange, the 20 rounders a pretty rare and sell out right away at outragous prices. People want the 20's! With a stick type magazine like this, I wouldnt imagine it would be too difficult to manufacture the 20's and 32's together. The 20's would basically be a shorter length and spring, correct? |
Sorry for not replying sooner, was at the plant discussing with my partner exactly what you are asking. When the 7.62x39 project is finished, we are going to look at the mini 14 and the 9mm. There are a couple of manufacturers we need to meet with before making our decision. As soon as we know I will let everyone know.

Thanks Larry. Your support on this site is outstanding. Couple that with your prices and its really a win-win with CProducts.
Be sure to know that if you make 20rd (stupid maryland) 9mm mags, I will buy my fair share! |
Don't forget Ohio is 30 round mags only. A semi with a 31+ round mag is defined as Class III.
I hope you decide to make the 9mm mags before the Mini 14 mags. You'll definately sell tons of 9mm mags, 32's and 20's would both do well.
I'd be in for a bunch of 20s and a few 32s.
I agree. The availability of quality 9mm magazines is a considerable barrier to people buying ARs in that caliber. Just look at the going rates for Colt 9mm magazines on the EE, especially the 20s. I think RRA and a lot of their customers would be very happy if/when CP starts making them. |
20...30...32....doesn't matter as long as they are reliable.

The sooner the better, the 9mm are needed much more then the Mini 14
9mm mags next please, I WILL buy some. 20s, 30s, whatever as long as they work.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
We seriously need 9mm mags. 20,25,32 it don't matter. |
I am meeting with my partner on May 8th to finalize our future magazine product introductions for 2006. We are very seriously considering the 9mm. I will keep you updated as to our decision.

You make a Colt style 9mm mag, and I will come mow your lawn! Well not really. But I will buy a lot. |
I would like to see a copy of the madsen or uzi .45 magazines or any .45 magazine that fits in an AR15 magazine well.
Colt style 9mm mags would be a lifesaver. |
I doubt they are going to accomodate your state. |
Eh, I dont know. I think that if CProducts did decide to make the 9mm mags, they should manufacture a 30 rounder and a 20 rounder. If it makes it easier to sell everywhere, I see no point in manufacturing a 32 rounder. Whats an extra 2 rounds, anyway? But I digress, anything pertaining to 9mm mags from you guys would be excellent. If all we get are 32 rounders, than I'll be happy with that (and i'll have to find a way to get them into this stupid state). Personally, I'm really interested in the 20's (partly because of MD and partly because they are nice and compact). Larry, not to get on your nerves, but do this! It seems like you have a market... |
Agreed,I would guss that there are more 9mm AR's out in circulation then there are AR's in 7.62x39 |
If you make a reliable 40rd AR mag, you will make a lot of money.
So should Bushmaster still be only selling ban compliant rifles since they "can be sold anywhere"?

I wouldn't see a problem with a 30rd 9mm mag. Seriously, would you pay the extra $25-35 bucks for the two rounds that the Colt mags would give you. I, of course, am guessing at the price of the C Products 9mm mags if they are made...

I would gladly stand in line to buy 10 9mm 20 or 30 rnd mags if they are as good as your AR-15 mags.
I'd buy 10 9mms myself, love my CP 5.56 30s I just got.
I will be the FIRST to volunteer to try out and evaluate a 9mm Mag you make. I daresay that there are a lot more 9mm ARs out there then 7.62x39s. Heck, do they even MAKE 7.62x39 anymore?[that we can get?] |
I can't speak to the isue of "underutilized 9mm uppers," but to the matter of 7.62X39 uppers, all I can say is: "Where you been hidin'?" Oly Arms has offered uppers & complete rifles in that caliber for some time. Then there's Model 1 Sales that offers a complete assortment of 7.62X39 kits and assembled uppers. Finally there is DoubleStar out of Winchester, KY which also offers complete units in 7.62X39. And I'd daresay that, with the availabilty of reliable, full-capacity mags, the number of 7.62X39 AR would increase MARKEDLY. Now, I'm a big fan of the 9mm in a pistol & out of a carbine, it's no slouch! And my wife loves her 9mm Marlin Camp Carbine! That said, compared to the little Commie round, let's face it, the little 9mm isn't even a weak sister! At least that's my opinion! YMMV. Old SF If your concern is 7.62X39 ammo, try Cabelas and Centerfire Systems. They both have Wolf 7.62X39 in stock. |
I just finished my 9mm carbine build a few weeks ago and I'm going to get more mags for sure.
I only have one new Colt mag and I would like the same type except with Magpul followers at a lower cost. |

From the C Products Industry forum:

I guess I'm in the minority but I'd rather see the mini-14 mag... or better yet a 30rnd 10mm AR mag. At least you guys can get mags for your 9mm AR's try finding a mag that will work with a 10mm upper.

Thanks for sharing the info, 9mm won over the Mini-14, Yes. C Products is going to get all my magazine budget from now on, AR15 SS now and 9mm mags later on. |

Are they planning on making the mags to operate the Bolt latch?
I think it's extremely unlikely that they would go through the trouble to design a 9mm AR mag and not have it operate the BHO. |
larry,
please dont forget 9mm for the UZI. AR 9mm and the UZI 9mm mags are so close in design, that you could fill two markets. Surely while you make the ARs you wouldnt forget the UZI. Its just about the same mag design. 32s and 40s. |
make sure you don't forget us in california and sell some 9mm mag bodies replacement...my old colt mags are seriously worn out... thanks !!!

Larry you are the bomb, I need 10 32rnd colt style and 10 20rnd colt style.... Thanks a heap and advise when done!!!!

Hey! Just found this thread. I too am excited about your decision to build quality, Colt style, 9mm mags.
I want to buy lots of 20s and 30/32s as soon as they are ready. Please keep us posted on the progress. Dave |
Same here. I bought ten thirty round mags a few weeks ago, and was impressed by the quality. Now that I am looking at buying a Rock River 9mm AR, I would definitely purchase some 9mm mags from C Products. The quantity would depend on price, but likely at least ten.

Count me in for a couple (of handfuls) of your 9MM magazines.
