Anyone know the scoop on these? The price is right and the picture on the site shows green followers.

www.tapco.com
they are made by D&H formerly Labelle but I dont know if they are NIW they could be used |
Are they as good as the Labelle's--i.e. teflon coating, followers, etc.? According to Ken from Tapco, they are NIW ((Assaultweb post from Tapco).
I hope they have a bunch! I could use a few more mags but I can't do it until I get another payday. I spent way too much this weekend.
I think these are the same ones I used when I was in the Corps. If so, they are just like any other GI AR mag.
Used or new, I dont care, I gotta come up with the cash to order a dozen, at least. |
I would wait until one of our supporting dealers here at E&E carries the
teflon coated Labelle mags. Soon it will be!! |
Called them there are a joke they cant tell me the brand of the mags, and they are not in the wrap !!!
I called them and they said they are out of stock and they are D&H a USGI maker and teflon coated but not NIW

tooly, tapco is a good company to do business with. I have only had one thing I bought from them that wasnt to my satisfaction, a G1 flash suppressor that was advertised as excellent condition, but when I got it it was lacking the spring that it needs to hold it to the G1 barrel. I returned it, they made good.
I'd imagine that they, and all the other fairly large distributors, are probably jumping thru their collective asses right now, trying to update websites/catalogs, and keep up with orders. Some confusion is to be expected, ya know? I dont work for TAPCO, I dont get paid to advertise for them or say good things about them, or anything like that. I have been happy with ordering from them though. Wish they werent out of stock on these mags already. Why the hell do deals always come along when I'm broke? |
That's funny they told me they where NEW!!! |

Guys,
My name is Bill Barrett. I am the Ops Manager at TAPCO. I want to give you the proper info on the LEO mags. They are D&H manufactured like you mentioned. The former company was Labelle. They are brand new, grey teflon mags with a green follower. They are marked Law Enforcement, Military Only. They don't come wrapped to us, they are packed 100 per case with divider panels in the case. We sold so many on Monday we have to wait for our next shipments to fill all of the orders. Everyone that orders will receive new 30 rd mags. No credit cards will be charged until the orders are ready to ship, so if you backorder, it may be two weeks before shipping, however, you won't be charged until then. As far as confusion on the part of our team, we are getting HAMMERED with requests for information and clarification, so please understand that many things have happened since midnight Sunday. We appreciate your patience and your business. If I can be of further help, email me at [email protected]. We also carry a 30 day return policy if you are not completely satisfied. Respectfully, Bill |
I am impressed TAPCO1. I only heard of your company today through a referral, and although the mags are backordered, I received an email and then saw you on here. If they are in the shape you say I will be happy to send people to you.

+16 more. Part of my "Center industries can kiss my ass" plan.
Bill, thank you for taking the time to post that note.
If we place a backorder would we still get a Teflon coated, LEO marked magazine? |
All/Bill:
Sorry to ask, but if the ban goes back into place, will the LEO only be a problem? I am concerned that it could be.... if so... Is the LEO only marking stamped on the base plate? Is it changeable? Would it be possible to change the base plate to one with a post 9/14/04 date? When the ban was in effect rifles that could prove legal manufacture were valued higher that part guns without proof of assembly prior to 9/14/94..... I am interested in buying 20-30 so saving some money on each one with the Tapco price is VERY attractive.... but I also do not want to paint myself into a corner... buying a future head ache. Thanks, Blair |
Not to worry. LEO mag bodies were stamped with LEO markings AND a date code on the body. If, God forbid, another ban goes into effect, the date would show when the mag was manufactured. |
Guys,
Thanks for the kind words. We really appreciate you all. The mags coming that are currently backordered ARE marked LEO. We have one big shipment coming tomorrow and another next week. As the mags are received, they will be shipped in the same order as your orders were placed. EVERYONE will be covered; it just might take a couple of weeks. Same $11.99 price to all of you. Same quality mags to all of you. Many of the mags sold on Monday were shipped Tuesday. As far as the ban being brought back and you having possession of said mags, KEEP YOUR INVOICE to show when you purchased them. Respectfully, Bill |
Didn't Tapco use to have a AR15.com discount code? I thought I remembered one being posted in their industry forum. I can't seem to find it, so I could be wrong, or expired.

FB,
We have used discount source codes in the past, but this $11.99 is the best price on these mags. Respectfully, Bill |
I just ordered a couple. Do not see how you can go wrong at that price.
Hell, if nothing else, I'll fill'em with molten lead and use them as paperweights to remind me of this glorious week when Klinton's bad bit the dust!!!!! |
Thanks, I know this is a Very Good price and have some on BackOrder. A "Thought Bomb" poped up in my brain as I was reading this post. Thanks for the deal on mags I can't wait 'till they arrive. FB |
He guy's, Let us know how they look when you get them......... picks maybe....
I ordered 20 yesterday. I didnt make the first round but it is worth the wait.
UPDATE:
I just posted this on our web page and wanted you guys to know first. 09/15/04 CUSTOMER INTEREST HAS BEEN HUGE! WE WILL HAVE ENOUGH TO FILL ALL ORDERS, HOWEVER, THE WAIT ON TODAYS ORDERS WILL BE EXTENDED ANOTHER TWO WEEKS. YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL THEY SHIP SO DON'T WAIT TO GET ON THE LIST. THE VENDOR OF THIS ITEM IS VERY DEPENDABLE AND THE MAGS WILL ARRIVE. THEY HAVE BEEN SWAMPED WITH ORDERS. THANKS FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND PATIENCE. Respectfully, Bill |
keep your eyes peeled for other great deals and post them at this thread
THANKS!! :) - Just ordered 17 :) Blair |
Guys,
I want to keep you informed on a daily basis as to what is happening with the LEO mags. Today's shipment arrived as promised and we have started shipping some of Monday's orders. Respectfully, Bill |
if the demand is the same as last time, how long do you expect this shipment to last?
Bob,
Good question. Today's shipment was gone Monday afternoon. We expect another shipment next week and have asked the manufacturer to ship all of the future ASAP. They are working hard to accommodate us, but they can only do so much with the hours in a day. Plus, they still have military orders going to our troops that are really more important. We appreciate your patience and understanding as you wait. The price and Quality are truly worth it. We will fill all orders that come in to us. Respectfully, Bill |
I was told yesterday by Tara"We should have more available around 10/8/04. "
I was in on the group that ordered some mags Monday. I think its cool they are keeping us informed on the status of the mags.
I'm in for 12. at that price, its worth the couple week wait.
Well, I will have to retract my comments earlier... it looks like these are some pretty good mags, and I really like to see the involvment of Tapco keeping people informed.
Mine arrived today and they're perfect...just as nice as any other new mags I've received. They didn't come in the wrapper but they are brand new . The're identical to Brushdog's pictures above.
I ordered 4 Monday and got them today via USPS. I will not post pictures because they are identical to the pictures of the ones in brushdog's post. They are undoubtably new. The only thing that I haven't seen posted yet is that mine are marked 11 03 on the left side - I'm assuming this is the date of manufacture in case there is another AWB. Then these magazines will be Post1-Pre2-ban.
Edit: No, I'm not a dink - I was typing too slowly and M4arc got his post in while I was typing the above. |

09/17/04 WE HAVE JUST BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THERE WILL BE A GREATER DELAY THAN FIRST EXPECTED. THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH INTEREST IN THESE MAGAZINES THAT DISTRIBUTION IS GOING TO TAKE LONGER THAN FIRST ANTICIPATED.
EVERYONE ON THE LIST WILL RECEIVE THEIR MAGS AND THEY WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL THEY SHIP. PRICES WILL REMAIN AT $11.99 EVEN THOUGH OUR COST HAS GONE UP. WE WANT EVERYONE INTERESTED TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD THEM. THE MANUFACTURER HAS TOLD US TODAY (9/17/04) THAT THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY NEW ORDERS FROM NEW VENDORS AS THEY SIMPLY CANNOT KEEP UP WITH DEMAND. THEY WILL HONOR AND SHIP OUR ORDER AS AGREED. THEY ARE ESTIMATING THAT ALL OF OUR BACKORDERS WILL BE FILLED COMPLETELY BY THE END OF DECEMBER. WE WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE BACKORDERS FROM OUR CUSTOMERS UNTIL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2OTH. AFTER THAT DAY WE WILL DISCONTINUE TAKING BACKORDERS TO ENSURE EVERYONE THAT ORDERS WILL RECEIVE THEIR MAGS. IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE, PLEASE GET YOUR ORDER IN BEFORE THE END OF DAY ON MONDAY! IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ORDERED AND DO NOT WISH TO WAIT THAT LONG, OR WANT TO PURCHASE FROM ANOTHER PARTY, WE UNDERSTAND AND WILL BE GLAD TO CANCEL YOUR ORDER IF YOU CONTACT US AT [email protected] YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WONDERFUL THROUGH THIS WEEK. WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS AND YOUR CONTINUED UNDERSTANDING AS WE CELEBRATE THE SUNSET AND THE ABILITY TO CONTINUE PURCHASING ITEMS LIKE THIS. RESPECTFULLY, BILL |
