I have never used mine, The ammo can still has the lead seal and has yet to be opened since the day it was closed up.

I use them and share them with my partners.
It is a lot easier to load everyone's mags at one time with the stripper clips while on the range. They fit three to a cardboard box from an bandoleer. And,22 of the cardboard boxes fit into a .30 cal ammo can. At $18.00 an hour at the local range, time is best spent shooting rather than loading ! |

There are only a couple of rifle lanes at my range. There is always a line to use them. The
other twelve lanes are for pistols. Nothing like a 16"post ban barrel at 25 yards in an indoor range! It is even more fun if you shoot Federal AE223 or LC XM193 in the indoor range/What a muzzle blast noise and fire ball YOU HAVE TO LOAD UP QUIK WITH THE STRIPPER CLIPS< SHOOT AND GET OUT OF THE LANE,no one likes to stand in line waiting to shoot |

Heck yeah! When I was down at Blackwater with Ronin45, I went through 3 cans of Brit SS-109 all loaded on stripper clips. On average we went through 500 rounds a day, Load by hand? I think not. That would take away from shooting time. [:D]

When I reload my brass, I load the new ammo directly into magazines until all the mags are full. And then I put the ammo on stripper clips and store them in standard 12 ga. 25 round shotshell boxes, 12 strippers (stacked alternating) and a loading spoon to a box. It's a handy way to store significant quantities of ammo in the safe or closet.

I belong to a couple of different clubs. The close club is a target club and they have a one round only rule for rifles. No need for strippers there. The other is a bit of a drive, but anything goes. Trips to that range are a take a day off affair. In order to make best use of my time, ammo is carried on strippers.

I store all of my .223/M193 ammo on stripper clips in .50 cal cans and I have 800+ rounds on stripper clips of LC, in bandoleers, in some "special" .50 cal cans for SHTF.
It really is nice and easy to use stripper clips at the range. I usually take 5 or so magazines and one .50 cal can full of stripper rounds. You do get some strange looks from the "non-believers", but it makes for good conversation too. This thread brings up a question of mine: Is there a secret to how to get the maximum number of bandoleers (4 pocket/30 rds per pocket with cardboard) in a .50 cal ammo can? |

Like I stated in my first post...I have not broken the Factory lead/wire seal on my can, as far as trying to repack [B]bigdb1[/b] got me thinking today..So off to the surp. store I went, 5 nice ammo cans and some Bando's/strippers, (could not get any spoons, but Im sure I can get one next week) I think I will have the puzzle figured out soon, but for now it looks like doo doo. |

I get 7 4 pocket bando's in my ammo cans with cardboards, safety pin and spoon. I attatch the pin to the spoon and ten to the handle on one side of the bando. Then 4 go in on the bottom side buy side lengthwise, the 3 get folded up acordian style, with the handles wrapped around them to keep them folded up I put three across the top.

I forgot to mention, I recently switched to te Brit 5 pocket bandos (150 rounds per bando) and I can get 6 of them in a can easier than the 4 pocket American Bandos. giving me 900 rounds per can.

So, here's how I do it: I lay a filled bando flat on it's side on the floor, and then stack 4 more on top. Then, I turn the ammo can on its side and slide it up to the stack of bandos. Carefully, maneuver the stack of bandos into the can. The extra material at the bottom of the bandos will get crushed at the bottom of the can, so don't worry about it. Once you get the stack of 5 bandos started, you can slip them into the can pretty easily. Then place the two "bricks" on top. -Troy |

Troy,I have 1 of those Units that were quite popular about 2 yrs ago,maybe less,I used to see them in Shotgun news all of the time..It is a Black Square ,it can hook onto your belt,(it has web gear type conecters),YOU INSERT THE MAG FROM THE BOTTOM,PUT A STRIPPER CLIP INTO THE NOTCH,AND PUSH,3-STRIPPER CLIPS,AND YOUR MAG IS LOADED..So far I haven't got my pics small enough to post,but I have some interesting pics of this Item in Action...Do you remember the name of it..I can send you a couple of pics. tom.(kula223)

Is there any harm in loading a long term storage can with stripper clips not in bandoleers?
I've got the .50 cal cans, Q3131A, clips, and desiccant, but only a couple 4-pocket bandoleers. I'm thinking about just filling the can with ammo on clips, but I want to ask what those in the know think. |

Put the 2 outside strippers facing the same way. Turn the 3rd 180 degrees and slide between the other two.

tried that, didn't try to squish them in quite so tightly. I was of the mindset I should be able to pull a single stripper clip out of the cardboards while leaving the other two in. that's how they came when issued on bandoliers from sealed ammo-cans. then again, there were only two clips per cardboard and one cardboard per pocket in the bandolier, too.
in other words, I gave up too soon. thanks. |

Using .50 cans and old-style 7 pocket bandos, I leave out the cardboard, put four stripper clips per pocket (that's 280 rounds per bando), put four bandos per can and get 1120 rounds per ammo can. Cardboards look neater but mine work just as well and don't rattle with the extra stripper per pocket.

A while back, there was a post that detailed how to pack 840 rounds into .50 cal ammo cans, using 4 pocket bandoleers (just like what Troy posted earlier in this thread), and also one for the 7 pocket bandoleers. As a matter of fact, I think that Troy was the one that posted it.
I used that post (it's been probably a year or more) to pack my ammo up. I suppose I could go crack some of the cans open to see how it was done. But they've been sealed up, with dessicant, and I won't wanna re-humidify the contents. [:D] Troy? Of course, I use stripper clips at the range. It only makes good sense. I typically take more than one gun and while a barrel is cooling on one I shoot another. My time is better spent shooting than filling mags one round at a time. IF I wanted to take alot of time, I wouldn't have an AR and would be shooting a muzzle loader.
Loading the clips is also a good father son thing to do prior to the range just as cleaning afterwards is. The bandoliers are a good SHTF thing for what are you gonna do, carry an ammo can? |

I just picked up some stripper clips and 7 pocket bandolers.I am new to this whole stripper clip thing ,it loads mags great. Heres my question the strippers I got seem very tight. When I tap them a sandy grit comes out.Is this normal? I took as much of it as I could out cause it made loading and unloading a bitch. Did I do the right thing? |

There definitely shouldn't be any [red]sandy grit[/red] involved with the stripper clips. These must of been used clips that you bought? If you get grit falling into your mags it may bind up the follower and cause feeding problems or even worse it could work its way into the action of the rifle. You should try to clean them the best you can. Better yet you should just order some new ones, because they really aren't that expensive. |

I figured something was wrong. I took out what I believe is all the sand but I think I will take your advice and get new ones. I didn't think about the possibility of just one little grain could give me a jam when I need it the most. They look new, it was a package of 1)7 pocket bandoleer,14 strippers and one spoon for $6.00 |

How about when the tabs get broken off the ends of the stripper clips from repeated use? I had some that had a loose fit and the rounds would fall off the end.
What I did to fix this was push the retaining tab on the brass piece, remove the brass piece and then fold it over the edge of the ammo can slightly (too much and it will crease and break. Basically increasing the two bends in the brass piece. Be careful as the edge of the brass piece is sharp and you could slice your mitt with it. I wear gloves when I do it. Now they securely hold the rounds. Teps71 |

I recall a post somewhere back by Arock in which he uses 7-pocket 5.56 bandoliers filled with four 10-rd clips per pocket, no cardoard protectors, and gets four of these 280-rd bandoliers per can for a total of 1120 rounds. This necessitates the use of the PA108 ("SAW") can for the entire volume.
Having a mess of as-new 7-pocket bandoliers, I use a slightly different take on that concept: 7-pocket bandoliers, with three 10-rd clips per pocket (without cardboard protectors) for a total of 210 rounds, then four of these 210-rd bandoliers are each folded accordion style and stacked side-by-side in an M2A1 (50 cal) can for 840 total rounds. Each bando has an adapter spoon in the end pocket and the obligatory safety pin in the strap. The four "stacked" bandoliers completely fill the M2A1. Noah |

The spoon is the tool that locks onto the top of the magazine and holds the stripper clips while you push the rounds into the mag. |

The safety pin can be used to attach your spoon to your bandoleer and to adjust the length of the strap that goes over your shoulder.
