I just picked up 200 rounds (20 black boxes) of American Eagle Tactical AE223 P/N# AE223J 55gr. FMJ.

Are these the Boat Tail bullets and 5.56mm? Can't read the head stamp clearly

Anyone have a link describing these with ballistics, bullet design?

Im not exactly sure about the projectiles but they are loaded to .223 specs.

Its stupid how they are packing the 5.56 and .223 in the exact same boxes. I was at cabela's last week and i picked a few boxes up and it took me a few moments to realize it wasnt the 5.56 verison, yet its in the black american eagle boxes.

There have been several topics on this in the last week. Here is a LINK    to mine, where i have pictures and a quick accurracy evaluation.

Does this mean that Federal is going to discontinue the XM-193 now that they are making the AE223 line again?

Federal's website sys AE223 (55g) is loaded to 3,240 fps (I assumetha is a 20" bbl).

Those are definitely M193 velocities.  The bullet is a FMJ BT with cannelure.  The only difference I see between this and M193 are lack of crimped primer, and different case dimension (5.56 v. .223).  The stuff I have puchased recently shoots like a full power load.  Anyone chronographed it yet?

Thats most likely a 24" to 36" barrel, I gurantee you its not 3240 fps in a semi auto 20" barrel

You have a point.  Their chart shows the test barrel is 24".  The 4" loss of barrel will result in a 150-200 fps loss.  That still puts it within 75 to 125 fps of M193.  Not too bad, especially for the current prices.  I just bought 900 rounds of it (on stripper clips) for $281.00 shipped.
