Lot 7 1997. All batlle packs sealed, opened one and there was slight corrison on less than 12 rounds from 3 boxes that I checked.
My ammo Case was Termite Damaged as well. |

I have a case that came in today. All sealed battlepacks. Opened one battle packs and all are surface tarnished but no corrosion--none rough to the feel--nice and smooth. Dated 1990 in camo.
Minor termite damage to case but none living. Most termites need water to live and they won't get any here--not sure about Formosan. Also ordered 500 rnd case of ADCOM that is in exellent shape dated 2000. |

1997 - Lot 6
I bought 2880 rounds and wanted to know what I really had, so between last night and today I sorted through it piece by piece. Looks good - 2300 rds 79.9% Minor tarnish - 464 rds 16.1% More tarnish/corrosion - 116 rds 4.0% Overall I'm pretty satisfied...I can shoot at least 96% of this ammo with no problems. I'll shoot the worst 4% first. Even that stuff isn't as bad as a lot of the pics I have seen and I don't anticipate any problems with that either. The boxes will be thrown away and the ammo is going in 50 cal. ammo cans. From what I have read and seen based on the ammo I received, it looks like this stuff is highly unpredictable...even from one battlepack to the next. I had two battlepacks that were almost 100% tarnish free. Other ones easily had 30-40% tarnished. Like I said, I'm not complaining about what I have...but I won't be buying any more of this because it's such a crapshoot on what you're going to end up receiving. I'll be using this stuff up this summer and keep the XM193 tucked away. |

1440 of 97 - LOT 7
I have oppened 2 packs and the contents were all shootable. Some would seem fine to store. I see no reason why I wouldn't take another crate. Now it just has to shoot good. About 30% with tarnish. 1 round found so far with a tiny spot of corrosion. Rough to the touch. Photos here from my crate. You guys are not counting the water spot looking marks as corrosion are you? |

I wonder how WATER entered sealed PVC battlepacks? The only thing I can think of is temperature extremes with temp swings causing the air inside to condense and then evaporate... I look forward to shooting and ballistic reviews... Rmpl |

Lot 7, '97 headstamp
Opened one battlepack for testing, most of the ammo was discolored/tarnished, but not too corroded or rough to use. I was originally going to keep the rest in the sealed battlepacks, but I don't want it to get any worse. Everybody seems to think the problem is from the cheap boxes, which is just as much of a problem in the closet as it was when stacked in the jungle . Now I'll probably just load it on strippers and bandoliers for storage in cans, I'll update if the condition in the other packs is different. Hopefully, I can range test it tomorrow. |

Mostly bright, slight tarnish on maybe 10%, but then only small spots. Overall in better condition than any lots of my XM193 in the 20 round boxes. Way better than the PD stuff. |

'90 Lot 9 and it is bad, about 75% or more is at least tarnished/corroded, usually both. I am very disappointed in this stuff. I am going to call AIM to see if I can return it. I opened three packs of the four and all were the same.
This was my first order from AIM, not happy with it either. |

I'm not saying water literally. Just that the tarnish looks kinda like water spots. Could be high humidity they were packed in and just as you said though. |

Lot 7 1997.
hlaf of mine was bright and shiny, half had some tarnish and corrosion. Nothing extreme. Look closely at your battlepacks. Many of mine had corners damaged where they werent sealed anymore, or the seams were splitting. The battlepacks are made of a very stiff and brittle material, not like the South African packs, which were still soft and pliable, even at twice the age. Overall, I am happy. |

Opened lot 6 from 97 last night, absolutely flippin perfect. Remember, lot 7 not so great.
The paper in lot 6 seems to have been treated with a waxy type substance. Felt very different then my other lots which just felt like somewhat rough cheap cardboard. |

Got mine today, lot 6 of 97, opened 2 battle packs and 2 boxes per battle pack. No corrosion very slight tarnish on a couple of rounds, looked more like water spots due to the circular nature of the tarnish.. If I knew I could get more like this, and the rest of the case is like this,, I'd buy more. Probably will since Aim made their post RE QC checks..
ETA I opened up the rest of my packs to inspect and stripper clip them. I would say at LEAST 10% of my 1440 rounds have noticable raised areas on the case of corrosion(feels like small patches of fine grit sandpaper).. John P.. |

Acid in paper/cardboard + moisture from air/condensation + long term storage = corrosion....
I've seen it on sheet aluminum too (metal comes in separated by paper, some sheets are surface corroded due to the above phenomenon.... |

1440 rds of lot 7 1997
Pulled out one BP that had split on a fold. Some very slight tarnish on about 10% and only a couple rds with some very very light corrosion. 100% shootable and very satisfied, would buy more later if any were left. Need to go through the other 3 BP now. |

just opened two cases last night and went through them both. One Lot 3 ,may 93 , it was tarnished not spots just generally all over even the copper bullets were a chocolate color. The other case was lot 7 dec 92. It was nice shiney brass with tarnish spots all over with some white discoloration nothing extremly rough. I am running it through the tumbler as I type this, just to clean it up a little. Shot some this afternoon, picked out the roughest looking rounds to test, it all shot and grouped fine for battle ammo. At fifty yards both grouped 1.5 to 2 inches out of my RRA A2 20" barrel. I think my two cases are going to be all right. I might buy more but it seems to be pretty much a crap shoot as to what you will receive.

Just opened my case of 1985 Guat, lot 3. This is the oldest that I have seen posted. The wooden crate looked like total crap, really chewed up. The ammo was nearly perfect, though, I only found a couple rounds of the 1440 that had the slightest bit of tarnish.

I guess that,s about 30% bad. Haven,t opened any more yet. Waiting on Aim to decide next step. |

1-2% with some corrosion spots, the rest was shiny or minor tarnish. Wife, kid and I sorted a 1440 case and pulled the ones with corrosion spots 1/8" or larger. In the pics the corroded rounds are in the small tub. I'll be moving this into cans as soon as I get a few.  Looks like I came out ok but I probably would not buy this again unless the XM193 totally dries up.      |

1997, lot 7. Only have 2 BP's open, still need to do the rest. 1% or so have MINOR tarnishing. Good seal on the BP, crate in perfect condition. I'm very happy with this batch.

Lot 1/97. Out of 1440 rounds 33 with any kind of tarnish/corrosion. Tumbled them, and they all cleaned up nice. I'll shoot every one that was in the crate.

Man, your pictures are driving me nuts! I spent several hours today sorting through two crates of that stuff (93 lot 1 & 93 lot 3). About 50% was ruined by corrosion, the other 50% seems like it's probably safe to shoot -- though it all looks like it's been to Hell and back. I had no idea brass could turn some of these colors. All your rejects look beautiful compared to the stuff I kept. hernot going through this again. |

I had mixed battle packs in my case: 3/93, 2/93 and 8/97. The 97 stuff was all bright and shiny. The rest wasn't shiny, but was still in excellent shape. Very few showed any spots like some of you guys are seeing. Almost wish I had bought another case. I'm hesitant to now though seeing what some of you guys are getting.

Okay I got mine in today, 4 crates and 2 battlepacks (hey it worked out for shipping).
At this point all I've looked at were the 2 battlepacks. First clue that there might be trouble were the *tiny* round holes in the packs themselves. uh-oh. Sure enough there was termite damage on the paper and termite shit inside the bags. On the other hand, even the worst damaged paper cartons still had bright shiny brass. Quick sample of the worst looking was 4 lightly tarnished out of 20. Pics to come once I get into the cases. Oh yeah, the 2 battlepacks were Lot 5, 1985 manufacture. |

My battlepack came in yesterday, lot #7 but I don't remember the date. On first inspection of the plastic bag I noticed two small pinholes, one on each end, so I knew it wasn't sealed anymore. When I opened it I noticed a small grainy substance inside. I only got to open one box of ammo but it doesn't look promising. Several cartridges are discolored, but I wouldn't say corroded. I'm going to get pics this afternoon.
Going by looks alone I'd say I'm glad I didn't buy a whole case of this stuff. |

Got my next order in. Lot 6 1993. Black plastic [not smooth]packs. Absolutely frikkin perfect looking. Bright shiny, no corrosion, looks like it was made yesterday. Very satisfied.

Received two cases today. 1984, Lot 1 and 1985 Lot 3. Both appear to be just fine. I only reviewed the BP's that were cut opened by AIM. They said they would do this to ensure that they would only be shipping good noncorroded ammo. So far so good. They also said that if I were to get some corroded ammo to just call them up and they'll ship out replacements.

Received 4320 rounds today from Century. The ammo was out of the battlepacks; repacked in three cardboard boxes in the small cardboard boxes. None of the boxes had any water or bug damage and a spot sample trough the boxes came up with nothing worse than the pictures Chapperjoe posted.
Three cases worth got me over $500 so shipping was free. Can't beat that deal. |

My first batch was '90 Lot 9, about 75% was tarnished/corroded. AIM made good, sent me a new case, checked it, and also sent a return label for the bad stuff.
The new case was 97 Lot 7 and all but four were bright and shiny. Kudos to AIM for good customer service! |
