cabelas does. Look under new manufacture (red box) black hills and scroll down to the 5.56 loading. That is it. At least as close as you'll get. It's factory seconds but everyone says it's great. I've still yet to try it. My upper is accurate with Q3131a and I haven't got the heart to pay this kind of money yet. |

The Cabellas seconds are in white 50 rnd boxes.

When I buy from Cabelas, I pay $0.56/round. Expensive, but really good ammo.
When I roll-my-own, I pay $0.35/round (all new components). Mk262 Recipe: -Sierra 77 gr. MK -Winchester .223 REM brass -Remington 7 1/2 primer -24-grains Ramshot TAC |

What's the difference between this and the red box Black Hills 77gr. sierra boat tail HP stuff that you can buy at Midway USA?

This stuff is NATO spec in the power dept. the Red box is .223 spec.

Anybody know what the Fulton Armory stuff is? I assume Red Box (softer load) however is says 2,750FPS which sounds like a NATO load. If you trust the Guns & Ammo article... "Switching to Black Hills 77-grain Mk 262 Mod 1 cut the group size dramatically. Four rounds clustered into less than half an inch, and Norcross put all five into .6 inch. Most impressive was the velocity of this 5.56 pressure load. The 77-grain Sierras were averaging 2,783 fps from the short 18-inch barrel. In comparison a Black Hills .223 Remington-pressure 77-grain match load averaged 2,615 fps from this rifle." Fulton Armory 77 Gr. Sierra MatchKing Velocity 2750 FPS Energy 1293 Ft. Lbs. What am I to think?

I heard you could buy direct from Black Hills - quantities starting at 25,000! With that size order you could get it down to $300/500 or so... Looks like the seconds might be cheaper...

The test barrel is 24". Thus the above .223 load at "2615 fps" will reach 2750 out of a 24" test barrel. |

Knights 2 stage trigger AI Mike Rock cut 20 inch super match stainless barrel 1:7 w/ PRI / MSTN QCB brake. Young NM chrome carrier. Larue 13.2 FF fore end, Larue Lo-Pro gas block and Troy front and rear BUIS'. Magpul PRS stock Leupold Mk IV M3 3.5-10x40 illuminated mil-dot. ARMS 35QD w/ med rings and TRC cap with J-Point reflex optic for anything that gets close in. (Going over to Larue SPR mount w/ J-Point mount) SPR grip. Still in break in process but shooting 100yd. .50 to .75 groups using BH 75gr match ammo. This was with the LMT Crane SOPMOD collapsible and H-buffer. We will see if things change with the new stock. |
