It sure looks that way! I just got 1000 rds. and decided to order more for the GSFS.
I got an email from them saying they were running low on some stuff but didn't mention what....Guess it was that. |

Q3131A is gone and i cannot get more unless i want to pay $32 more per 1000 rounds (not)
BTW all 223 ammo is selling like hotcakes and you can guess why.We get these runs on stuff from time to time. Eric the ammoman |

I really hate to hear this. The Q3131A was what I was stocking because I thought the supply of it would be around longer than the Lake City stuff. I guess now I will have to buy Lake City instead until the supply of it runs out. Then what will be left? IMI if you are lucky enough to find it? Or 20 year old surplus SA I suppose? Trying to find a reliable source of new production M193 ammo these days is no easy task.
Eric, do you think the Q3131A may go back down in cost some day and if so will you restock it? And can anyone advise if both Q3131A and Federal LC XM-193 shoot pretty much to the same point of impact? Or would it be necessary to adjust the sights when switching from one to the other? |

XM193 and Q3131A are completely interchangable. The only reason XM193 sales cooled off quick is that some of the last lots did not come with case neck sealant, and thus is not water resistant. Still awesome ammo however. |

Yes, I am aware that some of the lastest XM193 does not have case mouth sealant. But if this ammo is stored in a cool, dry place...or inside ammo cans with dessicant added.....then it should still store for years without any problems, correct? Perhaps the latest batches have been prepared with a desert environment in mind? LOL......water may not be as much of an issue in the Iraqi desert. |

I read somewhere that the sealant was applied inside the casing neck and therefore not visible from the outside.

Guys,
XM193 is drying up because it was made as a one-time thing. When Alliant Techsystems (owner of Federal, CCI, Spear, RCBS, Ramline, Weaver, etc.) took over operation of Lake City from Winchester, there were a bunch of left-over components from Winchester's tenure there. Alliant apparently decided not to use those components for military ammo, but instead loaded them up for commercial sales and sold them off under their Federal brand name. The ammo was loaded using 1-2 year old components, so the headstamps aren't 100% accurate (the ammo is technically newer than the headstamps indicate). With the exception of the lack of sealant on the later lots of ammo, the "XM193" is fully M193-spec ammo. Again, this ammo was assembled with the intention of being sold on the civilian market, NOT to fulfill military contracts. There was some question whether the last lots would even be released, as there were apparently some people who were not happy about it being sold to normal folks. Once it's gone, it will be GONE. And because the prospects of getting more new-production M193 doesn't look all that great, I'd advise against shooting it all up for practice. Buy surplus stuff for that. -Troy |

No no no. Brouhaha conducted some tests on lot 6 and 7. And found there to be moisture leaks at the case neck due to NO sealant present. There were pics and everything. |

I'm about to start experimenting with lot 2, 4, and 6. I'll probably start this week. I think I'm getting some Lot 3 in this week or next as well. I'm still in need of Lots 5, 8 and 9 for sure. |

Just to confirm, the Q3131A is still readily available, it's not discontinued by Winchester. Based on what Eric said, Winchester may be planning to raise their prices though...
