Received my new Blackdog Machine Magazine from the other thread, to test it out, I was one of the lucky ones to receive one from Bruce.

Opened it up, and my first impression, is that it's very solid feeling, appears to be well made, no sharp edges, burrs or anything.

The feed lips appear the same as the old style mags, and the magazine is quite a bit heavier.

Fit is very good, seats with a good "click" and is in the rifle very solid.

A little shorter than the original one

Loaded up with Winchester Dynapoints. I could only get 27 rounds in there, the spring appeared to be fully depressed.

I can't try the mag at the range untill Sunday, I will take more pics, and try to get Osprey21 out with his M16 with JAC kit.

Overall impression:
Great looking, fitting mag, they really have a solid "feel" to them. I can't wait to try them out.

Update:
Took my mag to the range today, met Osprey21 there, and we proceeded to abuse our magazines. I ran almost 1000 rounds through mine, suppressed, full auto, unsuppressed.
Zero failures. I've never ran my Ciener without any malfunctions until today.

Decided to disassemble the mag at the range. Don't ask me why The material of the body is surprisingly thick.

Osprey21 shooting his in his M16.

My verdict: Great magazine. My instinct tells me this mag feeds and functions better that the old style one, which gave me a few FTF's every now and then.

The guys at BlackDog Machine have a winner here.

And here is the M16 video.

And the abuse

BDM said the new mags will only hold 27 rnds. I wish they were a little shorter but they still look nice. Maybe a double stack would be too hard to design.

If I ever decide to convert or build a 22LR AR these mags will most likely be a part of the build. Look awesome.

Oh that is just sweet!  That is how they should have been from the beggining, they look good, I'm sure they will perform just like the BDM gen 1's.  My only input is to make them 30 rounds instead of 27.

I'm not trying to fool anyone into thinking my dedicated 22LR guns are standard AR's, so a magazine that is just a little bit longer would be ok in my book.

I also received mine today. I only ran a few rounds through it in my garage with my AAC Pilot suppressor, but it ran 100%. These mags are damn nice. and extremely well made. I will be ordering more as soon as they are available. I will also be running it very hard on Sunday. Range report to follow.

Thank you very much Kevin.

Received mine today also. Very impressed by how substantial the magazine feels. No sharp edges or burrs. A lot less side to side and front to back movement in the mag well. Very positive seating and drops free, this is with and early 90's Colt lower. Very good quality all around. Can't wait to to use it.
Thanks Kevin for a fine product and the chance to test it.

I got my new mag last Saturday and got to try it out today.

I ran about 500 rounds through it, and it was flawless.  I've got about 14 or 15 of the old mags, and have shot tens of thousands of rounds through several AR/Ciener 22's with Kevin's products.  This one is a winner also.

I was shooting Winchester Dyanpoints, Federal Bulk Pack, and my old favorites, CCI MiniMags.  Generally, the CCI is a clear winner for performance, but today, everything in the new mag worked well.  I did have a few stovepipes with the Win and Fed. ammo, but quite a bit less than in the past.  Maybe one every other mag or so.  In the past with either Ciener steel or BDM mags, those ammo brands may have 3 or more stoppages with every 30 rounds.  I don't mind spending the extra money for the CCI if I get better performance, but with this product I may not have to.

I'm shooting through a DPMS lower, cut down 4.5" AR barrel, using an DIAS, and also an M16A1, with a 11.5" upper.  I run about 60-70% in  full auto.  Either bursts or full mag dumps.

I actually think this mag may be over engineered.  I'll be going back out again Friday, and try and get at least 600-800 rounds through it and post the results.

So far, two thumbs up !!

Was there with Punani and Osprey21 and JJ Rockbush on Sunday, and used Punani's BD Mag with my Bushmaster AR,with Ceiner Kit, and ran two mag's full through it.  I gotta say it is FAR superior to the Ceiner Mags that I have, and I will definitely be ordering some of these when they are available.  All pictures visible through two different computers as well.

Here's some Vids I shot today with the new full profile mag.

New Mag 1

New Mag 2

i am also very pleased to report that my gun runs quite well with Federal Bulk pack ammo out of this mag.  I used to have to use the much more expensive CCI MiniMags to get complete mag dumps.

Nice mags!

Can I ask why the new thing in mags is to run them over?

Does this happen a lot at the range and in home defense?

Just wondering.

Again, nice mags. I gonna get some!

Well, as the Photog of the "run it over" video....we are also putting the mags to the "sitting in the safe for 15 years while bitching about ammo prices and posting dinner pics" test. That video will be available in.....well, in fifteen years.

Thanks to Black Dog Machine for reinvigorating the .22 market in ARs.

Between them and Spikes, there is no way in hell I'll get through to 2008 without building a .22

I've been wanting to build a dedicated .22RF upper, and you guys are killing me.

If you don't mind me asking, how are the polymer feed lips holding up?

Pics would be GREAT.

Because of the quality dedicated .22 uppers now available, these magazines, this forum, and of course the $7 a box .223 ammo, I'm honestly considering DUMPING all but 3 of my 5.56 uppers and getting 22lr uppers to replace them.

Yessir! Plus, having a dedicated .22LR upper really opens up the number of places you can shoot your rifle. I have my first Spike's Tactical upper coming very soon - it will be set up to duplicate my go-to 6.8SPC SBR - optics, rails, the works - so I can do basic shooting skills practice with the very cheap .22LR ammo and have it translate fairly well to my 6.8.
