The DNTC Compensator, designed in collaboration with professional shooter Dave Neth, does its job without the harsh blast of other effective compensators on the market.
Click the link below to watch a video demonstration of the this product. Video Demo Please note that the flash being produced by the DNTC is caused by unburned powder being ignited by consecutive rounds being fired. You will notice that the first 5 to 10 rounds do not have this fire ball. We are confident enough in this product that if you buy it and are not completely satisfied with it, we invite you to send the product back for a refund. Todd :: AK Concepts |

I'd really like to see a night time comparison between it and a Phantom 5C2.
ETA: I know this is a comp but I'm really curious because the design looks like it may actually hide the flash pretty good, maybe even good enough to be dual purpose.. |
Hey Stick - Thanks for the hardy welcome. I'm really excited about both the industry partnership as well as the DNTC - not to mention the AK-47 Comp which really started this all.
As noted in another thread - I have incorrectly labeled the second half of the video and will fix it shortly. As far as the design being a flash hider - it works pretty good - but certainly not a flash hider... perhaps a flash suppressor - but it does not completely hide it. Again, on the full auto demostration, you see quite a bit of flash due to burning excess gas. Todd :: AK Concepts |

Any chance of producing these for the FAL? That would be great.

so how does this bad boy work on semi autos? looking at it for a varmit/spr gun

I was informed of the existence of this comp by a very good friend of mine who is an avid 3 gun guy. I contacted Todd who very quickly sent me a couple of comps to try out.
Currently I'm running Cooley brake on my LWRC 3 gun rifle & I thought that was incredible but after trying Todd's comp, I have to say I'm convinced that this is a superior comp. I was skeptical of the claims made for it but my friend has never steered me wrong in the past & he sure didn't this time either! Todd already knows this but this brake is AWESOME!! No blast to the side, no muzzle rise, no blast in the face, it is 100% effective & a great product. We tried it on full auto & the fireball is very evident after a few rounds but damn, it works even better in full auto than semi! 30 round mag dumps were easy, all that was noticeable was a slight vibration from side to side rather than ANY muzzle rise. I think we fired in excess of 1000 rounds thru the gun, both personally & with other interested parties & everyone who shot it was incredibly impressed with the performance. I really cooked the brake, but I needed to know what it could take & I personally am very happy that it can take a lot of punishment. The final test was to hose a line of 15 targets from end to end & the observers said that the bullet impact in the back stop was in a straight line with very little rise or drop. The only problem with the current run of comps is that they won't take a HALO can but Todd has already addressed this issue & future production will accept the HALO with no problems. LWRC will be looking very hard at incorporating thses brakes into our production line at some point, good job Todd!!! |

That report just makes me reiterate what I said earlier. PLEASE bring these out for the FAL
Got one on the way
Thanks for the introductory price. I'll let you know how she runs..... |

Thanks for the review gman - it is greatly appreciated!
re: the .308... I'm looking at the solid works files right now. We have one more round of testing, but right now with the FAL we have in the shop, you can pile them on top of each other at 50 yrds and the felt recoil is significantly less. Without getting too much ahead of myself, I think we'll have them in a bag within 30 days. Todd |
Lots of fire! On a 10.5, you actually feel a little heat - nothing scary or threatening, but it is certainly there. It is still quite functional - but is a bit louder than the 16" or so. (which only makes sense - but I still thought I should point it out).
Hope this helps. Todd |
I got 2 from the Group Buy, need to swap for the HALO compatible ones please. IM me for info, thank you.
Looking forward to the .308 version... |
Anyone that needs the "new" version for the Halo and such need only to send them back to us at:
AK Concepts, Inc 2390 East Commercial Street Unit #7 Meridian, ID, 83642 Put a note in there stating that you need to swap them for the 22mm version and we'll normally send them back out the same day. Let me know if you have any more questions. Todd |
hi todd, OAL of a std M4 14.5" bbl + the DNTC comp ? thanks ar-jedi |
We measured the 14.5 in our shop and it actually measured out at 14.75 bringing the overall length of about 16.25". Of course all short barrels should be measured with the comp on prioir to making the installation permanent. Todd |

We are close to working on one for the 6.8 - but don't yet know how far out we are on it. We are going into production right now on the .308 for both the AR10 and the FAL.
I'll make an announcement on the board as well as an email to our update list once we have them in a bag. Todd |

For those in flash suppressor unfriendly states, the BATFE has ruled both the DNTC Compensator and the J-Tac47 Compensator non-flash hiding/suppressing devices.
Below is an excerpt from the letter received from the Firearms Technology Branch (FTB): The testing of the submitted muzzle attachments by FTB determined that the flash reduction effectiveness of these devices is not comparable to that of the equivalent military-style flash suppressor(s). The submitted items did not effectively dampen the flash signature of the .223 caliber AR-15 type firearm or the 7.62x39 caliber AK-47 type firearm. Therefore FTP has determined that the J-Tac47 Compensator and the NDTC Compensator are not “flash suppressors.” Todd |

Nice job. We have some in and intend to make it an option on our Stealth Uppers.
Way cool looking. Mark LaRue www.laruetactical.com |

Just got one of these from rainier arms awesome service by the way. At 50 yrds I can actually see the impact through my acog very impressed. Thanks for a good product

I finally received the hard copy of the letter from the ATF declaring the DNTC and the J-Tac47 non-flash suppressors. Below is the link to the letter for anyone needing it. (for those of you who don't live in a free state) (sorry... I couldn't resist.

Todd, If it's not too much to ask, can you post the photos referenced in the letter? Thanks. Justin |
Soon?
2 to 3 weeks before I have them in a bag. They are on the machines right now. Todd |
Will the .308 version maintain a 22mm outer diameter and be threaded 5/8x24 RH?
Thanks again. |
I will post pictures and specs within the week. I have the specs - but they are at the shop and I can't remember exactly what they are right now.
If the .308 version IS 22mm and 5/8x24RH, it will work just fine with almost all the 6.8SPC barrels out there as well. So you can kill two birds with one stone...
We tried it on a 6.8 upper and it works "OK" but not great. We will have a version specifically for the 6.8 SPC.
Todd |
Months. We haven't actually started working on it yet - but as soon as we have them in a bag we will make so many announcements that you will get tired of hearing about it.

Great looking rifle and I especially appreciate your comments and you taking the time to post them.
Thanks! |

It's amazing what a little reading can do for you. I didn't realize you guys were in Idaho let alone so close to where I live.
where are you in Idaho? We recieved an order the other day and the guy ended up being in Meridian - just a few blocks away. It was actually closer to take it to his house than to drop it off at the post office.
small world. |

I live in Boise just off of Five Mile. Not too far away. I'll have to check things out when I'm in and around that part of town.

HKgnnr,
Good post, it really does make a much larger difference than I expected it would on my weapons as well.. |
Super Duper, and way cool too. ML |

Next week, I'll be running an "unofficial" test of sorts. Both RRA middy's - the second rifle has a Samson FF rail, Vortex and a LaRue M68 CCO (best damn mount, period!) mounted Aimpoint.
I'll post results w/ pics from 'off the bag' as well as the doubletap run - also going to stretch it out a bit to perhaps 100 yards. I'm beginning to think that the DNTC inherently makes the rifle more accurate - because even after shooting those groups I muttered to myself - "there's no f@%*ing way that was all me." UPDATE - My "informal test" results 4/5/07 - www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=240&t=154472 |

What's required to install this? It sounds like a good upgrade for my rifle, but is it something I can put on myself, or does it require gunsmithing? Do I need to buy any special tools?
The compensator installs with a crush washer that is included in the package. Depending on how far you need to go around for the compensator to be timed properly (the flat on the bottom) you may need both a wrench and a vise block. Other than that, anyone should be able to install this without much trouble.
Todd |
A wrench I have (standard adjustable type, not any particular rifle-wrench, does that matter?) but I lack a vise block...and a vise, come to think of it. I guess I could take it to the local gunsmith if I couldn't get it on by hand.
Thank you for the quick reply. |
Kylaer - In my experiences, the second rifle that I installed this brake on did take a bit more 'oompf' to time it properly, as it was need about 60% more turning to do so. I used one of the 'multi' wrenches that DPMS and Bushmaster sell to build AR uppers. These monster wrenches have notches that will help in the installation of flash suppressors/comps. Much like the barrel nut on an AR, I found that if I torqued it down until it met firm resistance...then backed it off, then repeat.....and had to do this process a few times, eventually it timed properly. Holding the rifle between my knees and hanging onto the base of the front sight housing was really all it took. ETA, the weather has been hellish around here this past week. But next week, I do hope to finally find out if in fact that the DNTC improves my accuracy on the formerly Vortex suppressed rifle. |
