How are the Green Mountain barrels? There A1 20"  1:12 barrels are $89.95 shipped now. Are they as good or better then the original Colt barrels?

They're, um... shorter than the originals.  I assume you've read the thread?

Just the ticket for a 605 build, though.  Or a really correct SBR IDF Mekut'zrar build.

ETA: Except now that I think about it, a real 605 wouldn't be chrome lined.

Anyway Green Mountain barrels are generally excellent, if they're made to the proper dimensions.

I bought a couple and with the tax + shipping it averaged out to ~$100 and some change per barrel

here's a pic comparing the length (and I put that little scuff in the finish, trying to decide if I should mount my Rhino piston setup onto it )

You have to fill out your shipping info then it will give you sales tax and shipping costs. If it were $89 shipped I probably would have picked one up.

Since I can see a 605 in my future, this seems like the perfect barrel for me to buy.  I have a .625 FSB left over from one of my kits and Jerrell is only a shipping box away.  Yeah, I see me getting sidetracked again.  On that tax thingy, that's nearly 10% sales tax.  Wonder if that is across all the states?  Shouldn't be.

Well at $111 shipped it's still a good deal for a chrome lined .625 barrel and it would be perfect for a 605 build.I wish these were out when I did my 605.

I know one of these is going for my 605, as soon as I find a retro muzzle brake..

I'm looking for something like this..any ideas/leads would be appreciated

....these may also a perfect barrel for someone who may want to do one of those IDF cutdown builds

You guys keep posting these things and forced me to buy one for some future build.

There is no such thing as BRD. I know I can stop ordering AR parts and rifles at anytime .

In the other post re: Green Mountain's barrel, a representative from Green Mountain had posted that they had to charge sales tax because their parent/holding company maintains a presence in all 50 states.  He'd said (and I'm paraphrasing here) that he and others there hated that they had to do this since it annoys customers and costs them like $4K/year to update their software.

I wish I could afford to build a 605.  This barrel would be perfect for it - especially if you already have a .625 FSB.
