I thought you guys might want to see this, since it is kind of an AR-15 variant of sorts.

This is the first Tromix SBS 14" prototype of the MKA-1919 AR-15 style 12ga shotgun. I left the back of the receiver a bit long since I was not sure what I was dealing with. I just got the gun yesterday afternoon. That will be trimmed up 1.5" and the external stock adapter block will be replaced with an internal affair to clean up the lines where the stock joins the receiver, but you get the idea. The gas system has been modified a bit on the bypass side of things, but the gas ports are still the original size. Runs great on stout birdshot, but with a bit more tweaking I can probably get it to work on lighter stuff as well.

That is a new design from the ground up right/
I am guessing the lower is not a DPMS style.
Either way want it!!

Loaded with 00 or 000 buck!!!!!!! That is some serious lead downrange.

OH SNAP!

? Are the mags proprietary to this lower or are these Saiga mags?

Plan forward
1 - sell 11-87
2 - purchase one of these
3 - rethink, keep 11-87, buy one of these anyway
4 - have Tony modify it...

Looks like there is no operating elements in the stock, so you could install one of these?

There is just a bolt through the back of the stock that threads into the back of the aluminum upper holding the two halves together.
You could install one of those stocks if the receiver is not too wide enough for it.

railed flat top with detachable carry handle - nice

Cannot find pricing on the "base" version??

Too bad it will not accept standard AR pistol grips on the "lower"

What are the fire control group parts like?  Compatibility with standard AR parts?  NFA parts?

Tony,
Are both the upper and lower made of aluminum or either made of composite materials?

The lower, which is like a Cav Arms lower, is polymer.  The upper is aluminum.  The lower is the receiver with the importer engraving on it, although the barrel, lower, and upper are all serialized.  The barrel is threaded for Win-Chokes and it comes with 3 chokes and a tool in a little plastic case.

Yeah, it's like looking at a Ruger catalog.

Actually, I was referring to the AR with the HK style wire stock.

I'm playing with the idea of putting together a rifle without a buffer tube.

Yep, it looks bowed.  It would look worse if it was bowed the other direction like the USAS-12.

The bowing you see is a function of the camera. Peruse any pic thread and you'll see it all over the place. The guns not actually bowed.

It looks bowed in all of the pictures because of the Handguard.  The handguard tapers from larger in the back to smaller in the front just like a normal AR handguard.  The difference is that the barrel on an AR is CENTERED and on the MKA1919 the handguard has to fit both the barrel AND mag tube.  To do this, the front of the handguard is angled down to clear both the barrel and mag tube, thus giving it a bowed (downward) appearance.

The big problem as I  see it, is:  I WANT ONE "NOW" and will have a difficult time waiting.

Tony:

Will the MKA 1919 take a Norgon type ambi mag release and an ambi safety selector?  I am a lefty and have all my AR's set up this way so it would be nice to have my 12ga set up exactly the same.
