Question....Unless I am just too tired to realize it, but how in the hell did you assemble the upper with the tube wrapped around the FSB?? You cant install the tube with the FSB in place and you cant install the FSB pins with teh tube in the way. |

Actually, since I've done mine and you are in the middle doing yours...you are copying me There are holes in the tube for me to knock out the pins for the FSB. |

Is there a standard yet for what is considered a "lightweight build"? Seems to me that a lightweight is the most basic stripped down form of an AR that you can get. I have been working on one as of recent, with a goal of under 5.5 lbs. All I can use is irons or a tiny (DR optics size) red dot to keep under that weight requirement.

Here is my retro-ish Dissy LW build from a M16A1 parts kit. Unfortunately I don't have a scale to measure its weight.
I'm hoping to get my next LW build under 4lb. I've got most the parts at my Smith's place where he's milling all the extra weight off. So far I'm planning on a 11.5" barrel with an aluminum flash hider, the gas port will be undersized for the reduced weight bcg/buffer. I'll probably use the 6oz Clarke Carbon Fiber float tube cut back to 6", buttstock is a LE entry stock tube with an A2 plate attached to the end. Sights will be a Burris Fastfire. Hopefully I'll be able to make my weight.
