so, if colt makes the best m4's....and Midlength Gas Systems are more reliable than Carbine Length...then why doesnt colt make a Midlength Gas System m4?

Inertia. Middies haven't caught on with institutional users yet, they just keep buying what they used in the service.

Because mid legnths are not part of the specification that the military accepts...besides an LMT enhanced carrier makes carbines run less violent and smoother increasing dwell time offering just about the same advantage as a mid-legnth..but thats not part of the spec either.

A carbine that doesnt work doesnt work because there is something wrong with the weapon NOT just because its a carbine.

And how pray tell do you mount a standard M203 on a middy when the middy FSB is right where the M203 cut on an M4 barrel is?

Many users would be better off with midlength weapons, and relatively few use M203s. New users would be better off using mids as the legacy M203 mounts go out of service.

Because the benefits of a midlength system aren't sufficient to justify the cost of replacing all the carbine parts in the supply chain.  M203 mounting factors in also.  Why replace all the existing 203s with rail mount systems if you don't have to?

ETA:  NIH syndrome as well as inertia play a role also.  After all, the carbine length system was deemed to work well enough for three decades before the development of midlength systems.

Or mount the M203 to the lower rail of one of the SOPMOD Block 2 competitors.

LMT makes a rail mounted M203.  No M4 profile barrel required.  Although, I only own carbines myself, no problems and I also run the LMT enhanced carrier group.
