I don't think ARMS has any 'superior' products available. What brand mount is that?

I don't know.   It came as an accessory with a B.E. Meyers 2nd Gen. NV scope from the 80's.

Do they have to be ARs?  I've got a Daewoo with an IDF sling and I'm keeping it pretty simple.

Here is an interesting photo for you folks to ponder as you build your clones.  If you can stop laughing at the helmet covers long enough to look at the weapons you'll see the guy on the left in the foreground has one of those 13" bbls alluded to earlier in this thread.  I've never seen one until this photo.  As you can see, it is considerably shorter than the other but longer than a commando length bbl.  Also note that the slings are attached to the front leg of the FSB triangle instead of the rear leg.

I like the look of the 13 " bbl.  Might be a good SBR build for when I get back ...

That's a nice picture.

I'm not laughing one bit they look like serious men that would defend their country at the drop of a hat.

Where can I get my hands on one of those slings ???

Any idea what the optic is on the front person’s rifle?

Have they been doing pushups in a cow pasture?!?

You can find them at the Zahal website if you don't mind waiting for it to come from Israel. Otherwise check ebay.

ETA: I bought mine from desertpatches.com, the price was very reasonable and shipping was downright cheap. I don't see them listed on their website right now but you may want to shoot them an email and ask if they have any in stock.

Not sure about the push ups part, they look more like they were bobbling for apples in a vat of brownie mix.

The optic is a Meprolight M21, sort of the Israeli equivalent of the Trijicon RX 01 series of reflex sights.  I've no experience with them other than handling them.

If you are looking at locating a C7 upper then might I also suggest NoDaks C7 upper.

DPMS Lite 16. Only upgrades would be a MOE grip and a PRI Combat Latch.

That looks amazing. (except for the stock) I just love  A1style carbines. Especially the ones without the M4 cut.

No. The barrel is Bushmaster so it doesn't have M4 ramps.

It doesn't need them.

When I looked into them a few years ago they were all the same forging.  You can add DPMS to the list as well.

I want to build an IDF clone and would like to get a nice worn looking rifle to start with. I would like to find a deal on something that would most accurately resemble IDF issue and I don't want to buy something new and artificially wear off the finish, it just won't look as good.

Anybody see any deals on a nice used AR with a worn out finish? Everything I see in equipment exchange is too new looking.

Have you looked at Nodak Spuds "battlefield pickup" upper and lower receivers?

Beautiful! Your SBR inspired me to get my Form 1 going.

I built this 12.5" AR pistol as an IDF carbine:

I built it on NDS receivers, with a 14.5" Bushmaster chrome lined 1-9 barrel that i cut down to 12.5" and turned down to A1 profile.

New build is not exactly IDF (although, the upper might be close) but it is KISS.

Unknown Make A1 Upper
NP3'ed BCG

Check this out. Pulled this from a news article from a few months back.

Looks like they're still using the old A1s.

But check out that 10/22. Who's going to clone that little badass.

I'm looking for some info on if the Israeli's run a 20 inch A1 configuration.

Like a 603 or something similar.

I've seen all the 13.5 and carbine A1's they run, but wondered if there was a rifle config out there.

Yes. The Israelis use 603 M16A1's. In most of the photos I've seen, the original handguards were replaced with A2 handguards. I've seen a few photos with the original triangle handguards, though.

Good eye, you are correct. It was the only spare lower I had lying around when I got the upper so I made it happen.
