So, does your factory Bushmaster upper receiver (C7/A2/A3) have a forge stamp on it or none at all? Does it have a keyhole (Cerro), a bird head (Cardinal), a broken/splintered A (Anchor-Harvey), an AF (Alcoa Forge), or something else?

Your input is appreciated.

ETA: I was originally asking also how to remove a laser-etched (didn't know it was laser etched at first) RRA mark from my A2 upper receiver.  I gave up (didn't want to damage it) and sold it on the EE.

I dont think RRA marked that in white. That was likely a previous owner

as for Bushmaster upper markings?...................

Mine lacks markings of any type (same as my LMT, sans the white laser-etched LMT)

So, they use Cerro (keyhole), Anchor-Harvey, FK, AND non-marked uppers?  Emphasis on the non-marked upper receivers too?

This site (while some of it is no longer accurate, like many others use Anchor-Harvey, not just Oly) has a whole list of upper markings for Bushmasters:

I'm positive it's done by RRA. Have you seen their BUIS (where it has "Rock River Arms" in white)?  It looks like that but minus the crosshairs, only on the side of the A2 upper up by the rear sight assembly.

Oh, I see now

I imagined the rollmarks on the side of the lower being "whited-in"

Regardless of the foundry that does the forging, don't the mfg's own the forging dies?

I thought 'K' was Kaiser Aluminum. I have an upper with just a 'K'. It means they make the forging, which is machined and finished by the gun manufacturer or his sub-contractor.

I have seen them (Bushmasters)with several forge codes. They part out most of there stuff.for Mfg. Same as all the big Mfg. After forgeing it goes to the finsher that does the anodizeing and final finsh. In some case they will do lazer engraveing like LMT. Not sure if RRA is lazer engraveed or just stamped with there logo.

Well, it isn't coming off.  I tried acetone, xylene, toluene, kerosene, and even 000 steel wool and oil.  Nothing touches it, and even the finish is perfect (the white is still really white when I clean the oil off of it).  Anybody know how to remove this?  I'm pretty sure Bushmaster never used RRA-marked uppers.

My bushmaster 20" has the broken A on the flattop upper for Olympic Arms and BK on the carry handle for Bushmaster. There is a crown on the front sight post right by the gas tube pin and I have no idea what that means. Thanks for that link Engineer2001.

Just FYI, the splintered As (Anchor Harvey forgings) are used by many companies, not just Olympic.  That info is outdated.

I am not sure if you want to go to the trouble. But I usealy Duracoat My bushmaster lowers to match my upper's In Colt gray. That at lest would cover the white RRA. mark. Plus if you do your lower it will match perfectly. They also have Matt black that very similar to the RRA color. I find that the Buhie lowers and Uppers tend to look purple in some lite situations. I bought 10 lowers back in the pre ban day's. Most of my uppers are Colt etc.

Yeah, a cardinal bird has a weirdly-shaped head.  Hard to ID unless you know what it is you're looking for.

I've had Cerro and non marked uppers from Bushmaster.

Who forged it does'nt really mean much though.......what matters is who machined and finished it.
