One of our NEW weapon systems.
Our 16" "Recon" Gas Piston Upper & Weapon P-415-16-P12SX-CF-223 Semi-Auto, 16" gas piston weapon system, with Predator P-12SX (slim, extended version) full length rail, intermediate gas block location (between mid-lenght & full lenght), 16" Rock Creek 4150 Vanadium, Heavy profiled & fluted to reduce heat and weight, 1:8 twist, "5R" polygonal barrel, 5.56mm/.223 cal., with extended feed ramp barrel extension. Frank , check your emails. Im trying to get my Recon 16'' upper ordered. I liked my POF M4 so much , I decided to get one of these. To anyone who doesnt know, The POF piston op AR is extremely reliable. I have more than 3000 rounds through my rifle without any ( thats zero) malfunctions. You get a lot of rifle for the price! |

What is a "5R Polygonal Barrel"? Is that how the barrel is rifled? I was looking at the Noveske site and their barrels have polygonal rifling and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what that is.

That's really nice, i'm also a sucker for hard chrome plating.
Question though: there is often grumblings of hydrogen embrittlement with hard chrome plating on certain alloys. What would you say to those who question it, and if an issue how does POF-USA address it in your product? thanks |

Been waiting for this. What accuracy are you getting and what lower and mags to you recomend? Might be the ticket for an urban sniper rifle if it can cosistantly keep MOA with Match ammo. What are your test showing? My 223 POF is still chugging and keeps me safe at work. Thanks.

Just ordered my Recon POF 16'' upper. This will be my second POF piston upper. The first one was that good. POF has a proven product and Im making the best of it.

They say 8-10 weeks but POF told me that it could be sooner. Being I already own a 14.5 POF piston upper with perm flash hider, I will say that it is slightly heavier than a direct gas AR. I never weighed it but I would say that it would be within ounces. The piston reliability far outweighs the little bit of extra weight. |

I'd still like to see them numbers, some people think the 416 is a minuscule weight increase (7.7lbs  ).

Thats about the weight class I would put the POF in. It is slightly heavier but extremely robust. I would not second guess the strength and reliability of POF. I cannot get my rifle to jam. It is definately piece of mind! |

Use plating companies that are ISO 9002 certified and a tier one vendor of companies like: Boeing. They follow a process that is documented, that has the required manufacturing steps to complete the process they are doing correctly. The proper heat treat of the metal your plating after chrome plating eliminates the hydrogen embrittlement issues. Perhaps my question got buried in all the other replies. Can you make a version of this with a light weight profile barrel (or any of your other uppers for that matter)? Is there a technical consideration that prevents you from making one? Trust me, there is market for one. |

Our current barrel configuration is a heavy profile and fluted, but is lite weight. Our barrel design helps to eliminate heat. Our 16" barrel weighs 2 oz. more then a 14.5" M4 pencil barrel that is .625ø under the hand guard. Hope this answer your question.Best regards, Patriot Ordnance Factory |
