Open your AR up, look down into the lower, if there is an obstruction in the way, sitting between the hammer and the rear takedown pin, it's blocked.

 M16 lower with factory auto-sear   Colt pinned-in steel auto-sear blocks [Note: "non-blocked" lowers look just like this except without the steel block.
