Unless its gold plated or has some unlta-rare parts, I'd say its over priced. I've seen NIB SP1's are shows for around $1200. It depends on where you live too.

Assuming that you had a typo for the serial number, and meant SP rather than SEP, it's a fairly early SP1. Should probably have the three prong flash suppressor and non trapdoor buttstock.
I too think the price is a bit high. It would go for $1100-1300 around here, depending on condition. |

I shot a 98% SP1 Sunday. It had an M16 upper, slick side, but with a forward assist carrier. mmm. Great handling rifle though.

I'm pretty sure it said SEP though. b/c I remember thinking that maybe it stood for September production or soemthing. I found it kind of curious too. Oh well, I can't afford it anyways. |

by this time next year you may be able to buy that same rifle for less than $500 if the ban sunsets.

Because next year at this time the market will be flooded with used ARs(preban). That will drive the price/value down. Even if it is NIB, its still just a SP1.
Why would you want an SP1 receiver after the ban sun sets, when you could get a BM, DPMS etc... for the same price? I do not think the price will drop down to the $500 level for a complete rifle, though. ....But, since it is an SP1, it might also hold value or become a collectors item. Who knows? Lets just hope the ban dies and doesn't come back with even more bs signed in it. |

My point is that an SP1 was a collectors item before the 1994 AWB, and will continue to be a collectors item no matter what happens. If you were referring to a garden variety preban I'd be more inclined to agree, but the desirability of an SP1 goes beyond the AWB. |

It's a piece of our history, kind of like owning a '75 vette or something like that. Not as rare as say a '70 Hemi 'Cuda, but still out of production, and a piece of technological history. I can buy into that, but only if the prices don't become inflated and unreasonable. like they sometimes do. |
