Somebody asked the same question and I forgot to answer ... Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR 30mm 1x-4x, illuminated, Ballistic 5.56. - Item # 201902. I had my tech guys wrestle out some "Ballistic Software" ... using exact above-the-bore dimensions (2.715") and we chronographed her at 2,500 fps. I wanted it dead-on at 200, so they gave me 25 yd. and 100 yd. heights, and then told me the distance that the rest of the BDC equaled. Good stuff. Ammunition was Alexander Arms 120 gr. TSX. I called Dave Fortier and told him my plan and that I needed a round that would kill one 1-shot dead. He graciously gave Bill Alexander a ring, gave Bill a sitrep, and Bill then sent me two (2) boxes of the elk-dead medicine. Ka-whop-o on the wapiti. I did note that my strike point elevation was dead-nuts-on. ML |

So ... Are you convinced enough yet to start production of a 6.5 stealth?
I think that upper should be in Decembers give away goodies box.

Willie here is gonna make me another pic showing the moa of each dot & line in the Burris' BDC.
Turns out some folks think that was pretty savvy way I ran that BDC in that Burris scope and would like to do likewise. |

I take it you're using the GDMR 20 inch upper?
I see that your lower is obviously different, but that looks like the upper you're using. Are you content with the quality/performance of that set up? |
Actually, I'm using a LaRue-Built Upper with a Lothar-Walther barrel and Alexander Arms bcg, (barrel and bcg sent to me by AA some time back). |

Very nice bull!
Just out of curiosity, what made you choose the 6.5 over anything else? |

Cool.
I'd very much like to have such a rifle ... it has been one of the major reasons I haven't bought a stealth from you yet ... I'm struggling to realistically justify buying an 18+ inch rifle in 5.56 when I see what's available in other clearly superior calibers. A stealth in 6.5 grendel would be a dream come true, and I for one would buy one instantly. -Duggan |

Nice elk!! I sat there for a while trying to figure out it's orientation as it's legs were sticking up but it's head was underneath it facing upright. Must have been a great shot to tie that thing into a knot like that!! You gotta love the 6.5G. I have a 22" LW barrelled build I did and doesn't that thing just drive tacks all day long! I never thought of it for doing any sort of still hunting and the like, but I guess I could deal with the weight on a hunt like that. So you were in Greeley area? We went to the Greeley Stampede a few yrs ago when visiting my sister in Longmont. Great time.
AWESOME!!! Glad to see you using a Grendel! Thanks for the pic and report. I hope to see some Larue 6.5 Grendels soon!!!
In what way will this augment my ability to "render inoperative armed opponents" and break things...? (Gotta stay PC for work... don'tchya'know....)
Well, I'm convinced. I hope this means you will produce a 6.5 upper, I would be standing in que for one. I'll even pay it forward. Maybe you will surprise us all at SHOT 2009. Please don't let us down!

Great story and pics!
+1 on the TAD gear, that Ranger Hoodie looks great. |

Mark, Well done on many levels. Though I am of the forensic crowd and would have loved some pictures from within!
Congratulations on some fine fixin's. |

Great Story!!!!
Great shot!!!! My Grendel sports a Larue SPR 1.5 with a Nikon Tactical scope. The scope has been off the upper, and the upper has been across the country in the hands of UPS, and then back to me also in the hand of UPS. The last group it shot before it left, I had zeroed it at 100 yards, so when I remounted the scope on the rifle today, I started at 100 yards. The first shot was on the 1" bull, and the 5 shot group all touched. That is consistency, and that is a mount that you can stake your life on!! Thank you for your support of our soldiers, and especially our snipers!! Thank you also for manufacturing a product that all Americans can be proud to say is "Made in America"!!!! Bill |

Great Story and Great Pics.

It is stories like this that will hopefully grow the popularity of the 6.5 Grendel.

Why would Mark bother??? |
Exactly Mark! I got invited to hunt Moose with my grendel this year, but I cannot find the time for traveling etc. I will however go next year to Vermont. Check your PMs |

very nice thanks for the post looking forward to mine when it arrives, after I get home from Iraq

That is one heck of a nice animal you harvested there! And good shooting as well. Man, that all came together nicely for you...
But I don't think there is anything 6.5 Grendel specific that would call for a new LaRue product or accessory of some kind. Or am I wrong?
just curious of the length of the barrel?
No, but Stealth Uppers in 6.5 Grndel would be cool. |

I wish Elk came in 100 lbs versions.
The reason I never went hunting is that Elks the only game Ive tried that I truly like the taste of and Id prefer eating natural meat compared to hormone fed crap outa the grocery. However, Im lazy and that animal looks just too damn big to drag around cut up....it would be like trying to field dress a volkswagon. Maybe bunny rabbit sized Elk. Do all the same cuts apply to Elk as a steer? Like Filet, Ribeye.....Porterhouse? Anyways, I love posts like this......kinda lets you live it vicariously, Thanks!! The pic with the elk head in the back of the plane is funny as hell.....kinda like an eerie passenger. |

Good lookin' animules. Geeley-Weld was perfect ... as that's where my Burris boys were. We also headed out going up Poudre Canyon road, nice drive BTW. Send me an email --> mark @ laruetactical.com Thanks for the invite, and I do have an interest in goin' huntin' with ya. ML |

Yeppers, I paid $33,000 for the Navion, since then I've thrown another $15k-$20k in her. "Navion Pilot Report" It cost me $600 bucks in fuel to get there and back. The rental car was $25 day ? Blowing clean through an elk with a 6.5 Grendel ... ... Priceless. |

And I just happen to have called Larue a couple of weeks ago asking about a possible Larue upper in 6.5 Grendel.
If it happens, I'm first on the list! |

I wanna be second on that list!
