Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - block over safety removal

I've heard and read a couple instances of people removing the block over safety from Colt AR15s. I was talking to a class III owner and he shed some light on the subject. Is it legal only for those who purchase a registered drop in autosear? I've seen a couple of other weapons converted that MUST be prebans, yet it appears it doesn't matter as far as pre or post bans with AR15 and legal autosears.
If it is legal to remove the block could anyone recommend a gunsmith?

BATF has specifically ruled that removing the block (which was never legally mandated in the first place), in and of itself, is totally legal.  There are no pre/post-ban restrictions, and no NFA requirement.  Some aftermarket triggers require removing the block.
