The Bush administration has announced that it is ending all federal gun buyback programs, which are administered by the Housing & Urban Development department (HUD). This ends the Federal government's waste of $15 million dollars of taxpayer monies to buyback guns the federal government never owned. The liberals have already come out to denounce the President's actions. "It's sad, but not surprising, to see George Bush and the Republicans turning their party into a wholly owned subsidiary of the gun lobby," said former HUD secretary Andrew Cuomo, who launched the buyback program. Gun buyback programs are illegal because funding was not created by Congress. Instead former President Clinton illegally took millions from a program to combat drugs to fund the buyback. HUD's own studies indicate that only one to two percent of street guns were taken off the street due to the program. Most guns that were government purchased, came from law-abiding citizens & not from gang members.

Now how about a gun give-back, where the military gives the tax-payers back all the used M16s we've paid for over the years.  Give the weapons a 5 year lifespan in the armed forces, after that, sell them through the CMP for like $300, to cover arsenal refurbishing.  A free case of ammo and free shipping with purchases of 2 or more would be nice.  Of course, we can all dream.
