Love the P-38! Was it "Glacier Girl"? Looks like her to me.
B-25 and B-17, two of my other favorites. Gotta love the sound of those radial engines. I bet the sound out there was awesome! |
|
I thought they were going to stick Glacier Girl in a museum after a few airworthiness flights?
There is something really awesome about seeing a Zero or any WWII plane flying through black smoke like that. It's hard to put into words. |
|
Sweet, thanks for that.
What kind of camera are you using? I couldn't take that type of quality of picture if my fucking life depended on it. |
|
Do they still use RATO in operations ot is it relegated to the show circuit now?

What lens?
Tell us about the A-4. VERY good pics! Impressive composing! ETA 30 seconds... ETA 2: TA-4F "To Collings Foundation as part of their Vietnam Heritage grouping" |

Quoted: What's the smaller plane in the fifth pic? That there be a C-47, one of the greatest non-combat aircraft to ever serve the military. |

What's the smaller plane in the fifth pic? Some might say it's a C-47, but I think it's probably a DC-3 made to look like a C-47. They were the freight haulers that they called the Gooneybirds during WWII, but eventually they evolved into Puff the Magic Dragon during the early days of Vietnam. |
|
Harrier FTW! How loud was it? Saw one at a show several years ago and holy shit are those things loud when they hover.
|
|
I love the A26, man those are sweet, and to see one that still has the turrets is even better. Most were turned into executive planes, fire bombers or drug runners and now those turrets dont exist, let alone see one without windows

I run a little PENTAX K110D with 18-55 and 50-200 factory lenses. |

Very cool. I watched some this morning from a nearby park, and I think I am going back to watch the Blue Angels.

|
That's cool, and one of the most awesome wastes of our tax dollars.
Yeah , I know SOME of those are private craft...but the ones that are not...arggghhh. |

Excellent pics!
Lots of background wallpaper material there! |

Great pics by the way. I love the WWII warbirds. The Vietnam era planes are sweet too. That looks like an A-1 Skyraider flying with an A4 Skyhawk.

When I joined the US Army about 20 years ago, My Father went out and got me a PENTAX K1000 simple, rugged 35mm. He said you're going to see the world, send back pics. One of the best things He ever did. When I went shopping for a DSLR a few years ago, I looked at Cannon, Nikon, Oly, and PENTAX I thought they were pretty comparable, but I went with the PENTAX, because it takes regular AA batteries, and SD memory. I also could use my old 35mm lenses. (Sorry for the thread hijack) |

Isn't that a P-47 Thunderbolt flying with the A-10? Why yes, yes it is. |
