As an auxiliary horn, yes. Not for everyday use.

I had an JC Whitney-catalog-addicted uncle that rigged 6 horns of various types, I think two were from a tugboat and two from a locomotive. IIRC he had to rig a couple extra batteries to make it work. All in a VW Rabbit, it was funny as hell when he lit those off in traffic. |

I want train horns for my car. I think they are illegal in FL but no one pays attention to my current horn I should just get a drop replacement in one but I'm too lazy and only really care when I'm flipping off some asshole.

I'm going to have to go with not cool, especially when you're using them in a residential area at 2am in the morning waking my ass up. If I knew when the local asshat was going to do a drive-by honking, I'd go lie out in wait and <multiple CoC violations>.

Question:
If you were to install an air horn in your vehicle would you keep the normal volume electric horn hooked up for times when you don't need full volume? |

I knew a couple of punks who got their hands on an actual train horn, scare the shit out of the local retired population.

Someone around here had one, they used it all the time in parking lots, for no reason while driving down the road, annoying as shit.
In another part of town there was someone who did the same shit, one day they must have pissed someone off and got their van covered in brakefluid |

My '99 Cadillac Deville Concours had a freaking AMAZING horn straight from the factory. My '04 Deville sounds like a joke in comparison.

i feel totally inept. I hate the mickey mouse horn on my corolla, so I went to auto zone and bought the "loudest, deepest, highway blaster" replacement horn they sold. A week after hooking it up, it has developed laryngitis and now sounds like a choking frog.
Unless you folks can recommend something better, I'm gonna put the old horn back in. |

I love the resonance of that minor 7th chord (train horn tuning).
