I Ordered and Recieved one of thier lowers.

Shipping was extremely fast!
The item is beautiful.
I was able to pick out a serial number (between 1 and 500), I got "223"
Got to choose Color (I chose Black)

I have not built it up yet but the rest of my parts are supposed to show up tomarrow!  I am hoping to get a little time to build it up and maybe shoot it later in the week.  This will be my first scratch build, wish me luck![smoke]

Well, if anyone cares, or reads this.

I got my parts to complete my [green]Diamond Lower.[/green]

I Ordered a Parts Kit from [green]American Spirit Arms[/green].   [url]http://www.gunkits.com[/url]

I got the 16" Flattop-Bull Barrel-Kit w/ the optional Hard Chrome Bolt & Carrier, and the Detachable Front Sight and Gas Block.

This was the first kit AR-15 I have built, I have several other AR's, and I have built several 10/22's, so I was pretty sure I could handle it. Well it turned out to be ALOT easier then I thought it would.

To start the Kit was beautiful! It was packed, in a extremely nice box that was foam fitted to all the parts, it really did include every part needed just like they said. Everything went together well.

My only problem and then a gripe is, not sure whos part was wrong [green](Diamond, or ASA)[/green] but the bolt hold open piece would not fit down in the reciever, I measured it and the slot in the reciever and hold open was 2.5 thousands of an inch bigger, so I got out my other AR's and did some part swapping and got one that fit.

My gripe would be that the barrel on the upper looks like it was turned in the lathe and then put in the upper with no polishing or anything extra done, so you can still see the tooling. Maybe some would like that effect, but I have too say I would like polish better, oh well should of got fluted!

The Lower does fit my 30 rnd'ers just find.

Here is a couple of pics if you want to see them:

I prefer forged receivers myself, but that's a matter of taste.

That business of the trigger screws though:  if they're just used to stop the GI style trigger instead of a custom trigger, they're a BAD idea.  Limiting the engagement of that trigger stresses the parts badly and WILL lead to early failure.  A for effort, F for engineering.

I did not know that ASA, was not making a good product.

Oh well live and learn,  I will have to let you know how it shoots as I have not got to shoot it yet,  will go out sometime this week and give it a try.

I ordered the Leupold Mark 4 mounts, and the Leupold VariX III 4.5x14 x 50mm Tactical with Side focus for the gun.

Also I would like to Thank Everyone for their input that is what makes a discussion board like this great.

I wouldn't say that ASA is not making a good product, but in the past they've received mixed reviews about the quality and multiple reports of horrible customer service.

Their web site is slick though isn't it?

Shoot it and see.
