I remember many, many years ago (like 20+) there was an armored car held up with a M2 .50 Browning. They had stolen the gun from the National Guard. Then they set it up in the back of a van. They waited for the armored car, which had to pass through an alley in order to reach the street from it's previous pick-up. They simply pulled up infont of the armored car with the rear facing the target. The driver recognized it for what it was and the guards bailed out of the vehicle. Not a shot was fired, but the bad guys emptied the armored car and put it all in a second vehicle. They left the .50 and the van (which had been stolen) behind at the scene. I don't recall if anyone was ever arrested.
Not really what you were after, since the .50 was stolen GI property in the first place, but it's still one hell of a story after all these years.
