Personally, it's a recipe for no good when you fill an old, aging ship with novice sailors, many of whom have never been on a boat, and take it into some of the roughest waters on the planet. Personally, I wouldn't get onto that boat, but that's me. You don't take a crew of pleasure boaters, and that's being generous to their experiance level, and put them on the bad waters.

Wasn't there an episode where some of their guys went off in one of those little boats and they lost contact with them and they had to radio one of the japanese whalers for assistance? All they got was silence IIRC. Hilarious.

i thought the same thing, but according to these freaks the japanese fishing vessels are violating some type of international treaty or some such bullshit...

The editors made Watson (the ship's Captain) look good in that ice field.
Peter Brown (1st mate) has no business in row boat much less an ocean going vessel.
His inability to hold a bow line taught caused the delta boat to flip over last season.
He was panicky little girl when he tried to pilot the ship thought the ice.

I really don't think the majority of viewers watch the show because they care about the whales, I think they watch it to see if Capt. Mouth-Breather is going to get any or all of them killed!
