How'd you break your Bushmaster? That sounds kinda painful. How long did you have to stay in the emergency room?

No emergency room, I just put my Bushy in a sling and took it home.
The problem is the trigger seems to be locked and fails to release the hammer. I can make the hammer function by releasing it with a small screwdriver which makes it move forward a bit. Then when I pull the trigger it releases normally. |

If you haven't done any mods to it, i.e. aftermarket trigger, send it back to Bushmaster for repair under warranty.

BB - I thought about doing that, but the paperwork crap and the possibility of FedEx losing my lower makes it not worth saving the cash to me.

Sounds like your disconnector isn't.
Try disassembling trigger group, clean, reassemble, and CLP it. You might have something stuck in there. From the sound of your description it sounds like the disconnector continues to hang onto the hammer, and fiddling with the screwdriver makes it let go, whereby the hammer rotates forward and the sear on the front of the trigger catches it, thus enabling it to be fired normally. |

I understand about the paperwork BS. Look for a loose primer or grit in your trigger group, disassemble and clean like b0ne said, and check your disconnector spring to see if it's broken or installed incorrectly and see if the rubber insert is in there.

You wouldn't happen to have any links to pictures of the trigger group or instructions on how to disassemble it would you? I've never taken down that part of my rifle before.

When I worked in the city of Orange I was half a block from Evan's. He has done good work on my AR-15's. I now go to Gruning Precision (909-689-6692) by the Riverside Airport. Does excellent work. He is also a Journeyman Machinist who has done tool and die and jig and fixture work. I have one of my four AR-15's with him now.

Evan's does good work, but he's kinda snobby about AR15s... not that there's anything wrong with that. [:)]
His prices are kinda high too, but people are willing to pay it because he does good work. just my $0.02 worth |

He had a guy working for him a couple years ago who opened a shop (Blade&Barrel, I think) right next door to Gruning Precision. Do not take your stuff to him unless you want to wait forever then get lied to. ShortyAK, There's a new 'smith who opened up across from Jim and his shop is called Danforth Gunsmithing. I've never been in his shop, but I could check to see if he'll work on a SAR1 if you'd like. |
