I got to thinking about the whole "African-American," "Japanese-American," "Arab-American" thing a while ago, so I decided to look further into it.  I found this, and decided it was a good read, and wanted to share it with y'all:

I can't read that link yet, because I am running short on time, but I have seen it pointed out that unless a person has been born somewhere else than America, and is now an American citizen, they have no business nor any right to put any other country's name before (or with) [i]American[/i].

(Edited because I am currently quite red in the face due to a couple of grievous spelling errors.  I am slipping in my old age!)

I went to Worcester MA last February and for the first time in 15 years saw my uncles and cousins. Almost everyone in my family is a hard core democrat and most have jobs high up in unions. I was told by one of my cousins on the phone that my aunt Lorraine was the ONLY republican and she would be my only family political ally. I went to Mass. and met everyone, in the first minute my aunt (the republican) starts this "Your French American" crap!! I told her "I'm not French American, I'm American, I have never been to France, my parents have never been to France, I was born here and so were my parents, so HOW can you say I'm French American??" She comes back with "Your grandparents were from France, that's why Your French American." To that I say "My grandparents left France for a reason, the French SUCK, and are cowards to boot, they came here and became AMERICANS!" Now all this is happening on the first day of our 10 day stay in Mass and she never came to visit again, I told her sister she can pound sand if she wants me to call myself anything but an American. Ronald Reagan once said something like.."You can go to Japan and you will never be Japanese, you can go to Russia and never be Russian, but you can come to America and be an American." I love Ronnie!! [:D]
