how to talk about guns on TV. He basically just agreed that the cartels
guns are smuggled across the border from the USA. He said they get guns and we get drugs. We need to shut down the border and I totally agree but I also want to see serial numbers from all these guns coming from gun stores and shows in the USA.

Okay, lets just say 90% of these firearms do originate in the U.S ( I doubt it BTW), lets get down to some precise language, as in are these CIVILIAN firearms, or are they American produced weapons purchased for LEAs and Mexican military and sold by corrupt members of these groups???

Who gives them the guns to trace? Presumably the Mexican government who seize the weapons. Are they going to ask 1 of the 4 ATF agents in Mexico to trace fully auto AK47s that are expensive and rare in the US? Probably not. They are going to hand over semi-auto AR's, which can of course can be traced back to the US since 99% of them are made in the US. Do you think the Mexican gov't would reveal the corruption within in the Mexican military and police who moonlight as security and intelligence agents for the cartels? Why risk looking incompetent and risk losing the 40 billion in assistance and aide we offer to their gov't.

I was thinking the exact same thing. He mentioned a large seizure of guns from CT ("300 something guns" were his words).....Only one large manufacturer that springs to mind, and they typically cater to military/police needs.
