Went From This:

To this:

Edit: The few smears you see will be corrected in a few days after its had time to cure. I will tape the areas that need fixing, and repaint the stripes. They are smears, not chipping. This paint is VERY durable, i did a Ruger 10/22 like this and has stood up to a ton of abuse and still looks like the day I painted it.

Used a base coat of khaki, then used the pine straw method with some brown earth paint.

I was gonna say some smart a remark asking if you fluted your barrel with a dremel too, but I dig that paint job.

Lay that down in the piney woods and it's a lost sumbitch.

Looks like shit.  It doesn't blend in at all with it's background.

Looks real good, I did something similar with a twig from a pine tree and some Krylon.

Good looking rifle. The pine needle paint jobs have yielded some of the best camo jobs I've seen to date. I want to get another AR or two before I paint one of mine

I used the camo series from Krylon. I did this on my Ruger 10/22 a year ago and its held up to a ton of abuse.

Yea, this was something I wrestled with for a long time. Then said fuck it, I don't plan on selling any of my 3 ar's. This one in particular is my main battle weapon, its taken everything from 250 pound boars, snakes, coyotes, skunks, etc.. Its a Bushy V Match that is MOA all day with Federal I buy at Walmart.

I'm generally not a fan of patterns like that, but one can't deny how effective they are.

Be careful where you put it down...might not find it again.

I make a fan type shape of broom handle clippings and alter the patern as I paint it.

Pretty cool.  It's weird looking but I bet it'll work great in a pine forest.

I did a bolt action last weekend.

It's interesting to see camo that works as opposed to the designer camo patterns. That is one heck of a paint job. It's already been said, but your gonna lose it if you set it down.

I almost made that mistake, I had it on safe when I did the khaki base coat. Then flipped to fire when I started with the brown.

Glad you caught yourself. Me, I wouldn't have. I would have done that shit up, taken pics and posted here and THEN be reminded. DOH! haha
That's a fine paint job on that rifle IMHO.

Nice paint job.
I'd love to paint mine..but I'm too chickenshit. With my luck I'd screw up the paint job and have a crappy looking $1,500 rifle
