Anyone hear the story of Stebbins?

Supposedly in jail for wife beating and/or rape and child abuse?

Just caught the end of the story.

Sad if it's true.......

Yeah, I heard something about that. Something about child molestation. They even changed his charachter name in the movie to be PC about it.

One thing to remember though, just because someone fought bravely in a desperate battle, doesn't mean that they're not a bag of shit in civillian life. Thats the sad part.

Stebbins was the XO in my Guard unit back around 1991. He got drunk and stole the First Sergeants vehicle at the end of our Annual Training tour. He was busted to his last enlisted rank held and kicked out of the Guard. He went active, joined the Rangers and the rest you know about.

There has been some debate on other boards as to whether his name should have been changed in BlackHawk Down, as his later actions should have no bearing on his valor under fire.

The BHD discussion board site, for those who didn't catch the link earlier:

Found this.

He's been convicted of child molestation (12 yr old) and is in Leavenworth for 20 yrs or so. They didn't change the name as they wanted the truth told. His wife apparently wanted his name out of it.
