Gee, that's awful nice of him to volunteer the state of PA to house them...

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/01/21/murtha-says-hell-guantanamo-prisoners-district/

Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., says he'd be willing to house prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in his congressional district if President Obama makes good on a plan to close the U.S. prison there.

As one of his first acts in office, the president circulated a draft Wednesday that would shut down Guantanamo Bay within a year.

Murtha only has a minimum security prison in his district. But he says he'd have no reservations about holding detainees there in a maximum security prison.

"Sure, I'd take 'em," said Murtha, an outspoken critic of the Iraq war. "They're no more dangerous in my district than in Guantanamo."

Murtha added that there was "no reason not to put 'em in prisons in the United States and handle them the way they would handle any other prisoners."

But that idea disturbs House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio.

"Most communities around America don't want dangerous terrorists imported into their neighborhoods," Boehner said in a statement.

"The key question is where do you put these terrorists?" Boehner asked.

Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, is introducing a bill that outlaws the release of a known terrorist into the U.S. Smith, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, said it would be appalling to close Guantanamo.

"If terrorists suddenly get the same rights as citizens, then we've turned the world upside down," Smith said. "We don't think there should be a limit to their detention as long as they are a clear and present danger."

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton, D-Mo., had hoped the president would close Guantanamo Bay. But he said he didn't know how best to handle the prisoners.

"They're very unsavory," Skelton said. "I don't know where you put them."

However Skelton didn't object to them staying in U.S. prisons so long as they weren't housed together.

For his part, Murtha was encouraged by Obama's proposal.

"I have said for two years that we should close down Guantanamo. Close it down. It's a sore in the United States' moral standards. What they have done there has hurt us," he said.

On Sept. 11, 2001, Murtha represented Shanksville, Pa., where one of the four hijacked planes crashed.

I say we pay half their boat fare back to Astan.  If they can't come up with the other half in 12 hours we drop them off half way.

Of course, they are kept in isolation so no phone calls are allowed.

Impeach Murtha...

Imagine all those guys in gen. population at federal prisons across the country. Their muslim faith and terrorism would spread like cancer within the prison system. All the new converts would lead to suicide bombings in the US for generations. Militant Islam is winning this war.

Murtha keeps the gov't money flowing into Johnstown, so they keep electing his sorry ass.  I used to live near his district.  God tried to purge that area once this century and failed, what the hell are the people supposed to do?

I hope Murtha knows what he is doing and consider its effects. He's is up for re-election in 2 years so, if it doesn't work out, he will be out of job, and his constituents will be stuck with the long-term effects of his decision.

Murtha added that there was "no reason not to put 'em in prisons in the United States and handle them the way they would handle any other prisoners."

Is he smoking crack?

We're going to treat captured enemy fighters like the punk who knocked over the local 7-11?

Yes, he is smoking crack. The only federal prison in his district is FCI Loretto, a "white collar" prison. Do you remember Marion Berry? The disgraced CRACKHEAD EX mayor of D.C.? That's where he did his time. Put the worst religious fanatics in the most luxurious prison in the US. Oh yeah, that makes sense!

BTW he is an EX Marine. After what he said about the Falujah Marines he deserves the title EX Marine!

My grandfather lived outside of Johnstown, was a clone of Archie Bunker, and is probably clawing his way out of the ground as we speak.

I say drop them off in the Hill district in Pittsburgh or on a dirt road in Butler county.

Not that he's in my district but I'd appreciate the call....

Murtha: Hey buddy, we're bringing the Guantanamo prisoners to PA, maybe 20 miles from your house:
Me: NO!
Murtha: Why not?
Me: Are you serious?  I'd rather have nuclear waste stored near my house than murderess, terrorists, and Dr. Evil types
Murtha: Most of these men are innocent and simply victims of the circumstances.  Also, most were captured just fighting along side the enemy and aren't real terrorist leaders.
Me: So they were fighting our military in a foreign land and you think if they are here they're going to become innocent?  If they'd fight our military I guess they'll just surrender to a soccer mom.

Oh, and something tells me Murtha is looking at pork to get them here.  That is the whole reason he's still in office; pork.  Someone will get paid/jobs/etc. out of Murtha getting prisoners here.

Yea, let's bring them to the mainland and put them under the American justice system.

First, they'll be let out on bail, later the ones that haven't blown themselves up will be rounded up and convicted.

Then they are almost certain to get out early for 'time served' and then the Immigration courts will order them out of the country.

We know how well that works.

The reasoning behind this, knowing Murtha, is easy.

His district currently only has a minimum security facility. Can't house them there.
So they'd need a brand new maxiumum/supermax facility. Have to build that. Requires money, contractors, bids, all that. You can be sure that Murtha is buddies with anybody big enough in the area to do that.

All in all, it would end with more money coming to Murtha in kickbacks and campaign contributions.

Follow the money. Murtha isn't doing this to remove some kind of black eye. He wants the kickbacks for bringing more government money home.

My grandfather was in the Army in WWII.  He told me that during the liberation of the PI they were able to capture some Japanese soldiers before they killed themselves and they had quite a few of them tied up and corraled.  They were getting ready to move out to a new location and the prisoners were basically dead weight.  He said his SGT came to him(he was a T5) and told him to get a couple guys and I quote, "Take them all down the road 25 miles and be back in 5 minutes."  He did as he was told with no remorse, no regrets and no mental trauma.  They were the enemy and as far as he saw it, they took him away from his wife, daughter, family and home.

I understand that we need to gather intel but I'd rather see them taken down the road 25 miles.  Its cheaper, more efficient and better for all involved that hey never make it to American shores.  Once these fuckers are in our prison system they will have access to all sorts of legal aid and bleeding heart socialist aid.  You will see them walking our streets.  thats right the same motherfuckers that were just a few months ago planting IED's will be living among us..

Murtha is a fucking asshole.  I hope he gets some vicious form of fast acting cancer and fucking dies..
