Fox news exposed it first, Pat O'Riley was on it like a fly, he got a lot of heat from celeb types.  Pat is alright in my book.

A small slip of the tongue, I think you meant to say Bill O'Reilly. Yes he has covered the failures of the Red Cross, United Way and others. I may have missed it but I don't think he has covered the specific case of the 911 charities disqualifying families of passengers on flight 93. I sent O'Reilly a copy the news link in this thread tonight via e-mail and asked him if he would consider taking this up as an issue. He is at [email protected] for anyone else who wants to contact his desk about this issue. Maybe if enough of us write him we can get something done.

while this is jacked up....

After collecting a mere $5,000 from her local United Way and $25,000 from the Red Cross, she's now all tapped out.

That's $30k in 3mo !!! And she is tapped out ?

That's a little under what most people I know make in a year.
This is like that woman I saw on some news show who's husband died and she had a newborn. She wanted some wack figure of money, like $25 million, because they had not thought about getting life-insurance.
I saw her house on TV, it was VERY nice. She had a Land Rover/Range Rover.
She stated that she wanted "not to work and to stay home with her kid and live her current life style. He husband was a well to do, rising star."

Yea, I wana stay home too... Some of these people are all fvcked up and need to embrace reality.

Come on guys! Life is lived at many different levels. Suppose you are married to someone who earns 200 grand a year and is the only provider for a family of 5. You live in NY where a 2500 sq. ft. house sells for over 400 thousand. Suddenly hubby dies, you have no job but you do have a house and a family lifestyle geared to that $200,000 income. How are you going to find the 14 or 15 thousand a month it takes to run your household? Sure you can learn to live with less and sell allot of stuff to ratchet your lifestyle down. But that takes time and meanwhile you have the death of a spouse to deal with.

Class envy is a game the liberals play. Don't hate someone just because they have more money than you do cause someone always will.

If everyone on 93 had sat on their hands like those on the other three flights, we would not be having this conversation.

It pays to be on a flight of marytrs, but not on a flight of heros:

Nice message.

That is why liberals are really socialists or even communists. They want you working directly for the government so that everything will be more 'equitable'. Everyone should work the same and make the same. Of course, if you can be deemed a 'victim' of something, then you won't have to work at all and also still earn the same.

whoa, whoa, whoa.  while i agree that getting 30 grand in three months is pretty good.  it didn't say she spent it all in those three months.  it says that's all she's received in those three months and "tapped out" referred to her receiving nothing more from any of the other charities.  meaning, the river has stopped flowing.  not that she's used up all the water.

now, before you bite my head off, i think that this woman needs to bite the proverbial bullet, find a job, sell the house if need be and buy a smaller one she can afford.  and perhaps she'll have to eat beanie weenies a little more often than filet mignon.  (hell, i remember a time growing up when dinner was a bowl of cereal.  which i had no problem with cuz when you're 6 cereal is cool.  but my mom sure felt like shit about it.)

i think the injustice here is that her husband is still a victim of the attacks and his location of death shouldn't change how the charities look at her case.  after getting some good old fashioned american help, she needs to get her ass in gear and work like the rest of us.
