how's this rebuttal for their anti delusionary arguments?
"just curious if anyone has thought of the consequences of banning all guns?
Fact #1. in england and australia where such total bans have taken place, violent crime has actually increased.
Fact #2. guns will still be available and bought and used for crimes. criminals will not abide by the ban, after all, they're criminals. if you doubt this, take a look at illegal drugs. despite the fact that they're illegal, they are still prevalent. even CHILDREN use them. and some statistics say that usage is increasing. yeah, banning drugs has worked.
Fact #3. States with right-to-carry laws have lower over-all crime rates than states that do not. Hasn't anyone every found it ironic that our cities with the highest crime rates--washington d.c., chicago, new york, l.a.--also have the strictest gun laws.
A study done by some University of Chicago professors of all the counties in the u.s. found that states that instituted concealed carry experienced a 8.5% reduction in murders, 5% reduction in rapes, and a 7%reduction in aggravated assaults. Likewise an FBI study found that firearm ownership increased between 1993 and 1997; however the homicide rate nationwide decreased by 29%. This conclusively shows that firearms do NOT lead to higher homicide rates.
Fact #4 whether you agree with it or not the constitution guarantees that right. and let me add something: it does not create the right so that others, like yourselves, may one day take it away. it is an affirmation of a God-given right. if guns are banned then the whole bill of rights and constitution might as well be burned for all the good it did us.
Fact #5 firearms are used for than 2 million times a year to avert a crime, often without a single shot being fired. This number is far higher than the acutal number of criminal gun uses (uses, not just murders) according to an FBI report. The problem is that we only hear about the bad stuff.
