It does look exceptionally likely that Justice Scalia is writing the principal opinion for the Court in Heller – the D.C. guns case. That is the only opinion remaining from the sitting and he is the only member of the Court not to have written a majority opinion from the sitting. There is no indication that he lost a majority from March. His only dissent from the sitting is for two Justices in Indiana v. Edwards. So, that’s a good sign for advocates of a strong individual rights conception of the Second Amendment and a bad sign for D.C.

I'm expecting "An individual right with reasonable restrictions." The key is going to be how the define reasonable. My guess is they won't even define that. They'll leave this to lower courts to ~~fuck up~~ decide.

Reasonable? No, I believe "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be unreasonably infringed" was shot down during oral arguements.

I have a hard time believing that the decision will say "any restriction constitutes an unconstitutional infringement"

Call me skeptical and a pessimistic curmudgeon, but I don't see this ruling as being our saving grace. I have little faith in SCOTUS.

I sometimes wonder if SCOTUS doesnt like to be vague..........in any case, hoping for the best, but expecting status quo

I expect we will win this but I think the decision will be limited in scope and will only primarily effect the DC Gun Law. I don't see this as being the big win that some are hoping for.

I don't think in the end it will effect much and it will not stop the Anti's. They don't recognize the Constitution when it comes to the 2nd Amendment so why would they recognize the Constitutional Authority of SCOTUS when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. The Anti's think they know what's best for everyone else and nothing will stop them from thinking that way or trying to force their beliefs and desires upon the rest of society.

It will be nice however to watch them get a kick in the nuts for at least a day.
