Very cool, I really love the idea of the heritage flight, given the current rate USAF airframe development a fifth fighter won't be in that flight until the mid-2050s
Andrews is always a good show, lots of cool stuff on display indoors and out. Unfortunately I had to work this weekend
Awesome pics man.. thank you for taking time and posting them for us.
i have always wanted to see an Air show.. hopefully the next one that comes to So Cal me and my Gf will go check it out. |
It's 7 MP. MP are overrated IMHO. The lens is the critical component. www.amazon.com/Kodak-EasyShare-Digital-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B000NOQVQK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1211194297&sr=8-1 The problem here was that maxing out the zoom was hard due to (1) not having a tripod, and (2) tracking fast-movers in the eyepiece. I found an air show picture website that has INCREDIBLY detailed pictures. |
Alot of newer, even semi cheap digital cameras have built in image stabilization. You can take pictures with crazy amounts of zoom and no blur. You got some good pictures there anyways. |

Looks like there was a lot of fun to be had. Thanks for sharing.
I'll post some pics of the booth babes at the Red Bull VIP tent.....later on. |
More important, when did the Army start using Air Force gloves? We'll see who knows what I mean. |
His hand is in his pocket! OH NOES!!!!! |
There was an AFSOC guy in the SOCOM part of the hangar wearing Multicam. He did not want his picture taken.
At least he isn't standing at attention in formation like that fat female 0-6 we had so much fun with last year. |
Hands in the pocket! |
Foreign/enemy weapons on display? Seems like there's a PSL/SVD with some sort of PSO or POSP optic on the table, in the back, and perhaps an AK with a G3 or CETME?
Great pics! For the money there is nothing wrong with those Kodak Cameras, I have the Z812 and it takes some great pics |
That is just the table where you check in your personal weapons prior to entering the show. |
Correct. FAL, MG42, PKM, MP5K, etc. The SEALs had an M79 on their table, which was great to see. Most of the optics I saw on SEAL and SF M4s were ACOG NSNs with piggybacked JPoint/Docter red dots. Rangers that I taked to really like EOTechs (and if there's anyone in the military that will break an optic from hard use, I'd put Rangers high on the list). I didn't see any Aimpoints other than the USAF police. |
You got lucky.....our airshow had the Snowbirds this year
ETA: and no raptor goodness |
Thats funny. At the airshow we went to the previous week, someone tried to bring in a razor blade. WTF would you have a razor blade on you? Not part of a knife or anything, just a blade. Some people are stupid. |

They gave me more than wings |
Does anyone else think the security guy looks kinda like N_T?
The Army had a captured BMP as well. |

I was there with a couple friends, I have only uploaded two pictures, they are very large so just click on the links
This is an AW rifle or at least AW stock with what appears to be a Knights can and a Knights NVG unit. They had a little kid sized ghillie suit, so that's what the little guy is sporting at the bottom www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/gkanga/IMG_0065.JPG This picture is of an M14 EBR with a LaRue mount. This was the only LaRue mount I saw, the rest were ARMS or KAC. There is a Mk11 in the background. It's not visible in this picture, but the M14 had a Surefire can. www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/gkanga/IMG_0069.JPG I saw the guy wearing the Multicam BDUs, too. I asked him about it and he said that they were issued to his team. I wish I had taken some more pictures, the NSW display had a lot of very cool rifles and pistols. A few Mk18 variants and an HK Mk 23 with LAM and KAC can (I REALLY want one now ) , and an M9 with the KAC wipe can. The guys behind the table were very friendly and answered all kinds of questions from myself and a lot of other gun nuts there finger fucking stuff. Almost all the optics were either "regular" scopes on the Mk11s, SPRs and bolt guns or ACOGs with mini red dots on top on the M4s and shorter. I think I saw one Eotech 553. Just about every gun was painted tan and they were all VERY well used, most were weapons that the soldiers, sailors and Marines behind the tables carried in combat. The silencers were almost all KAC. There were two or three SPRs with Ops Inc. cans and one Surefire on the M14 from the picture. There was an FDE window PMAG on one table, the guys there said they got a few and they liked them a lot. |
I don't think it is an AI rifle look at the rear of the bolt it is round like a remington 700 so I'll bet it is just a remington 700 in an AICS |

Anyone still got that pic? I looked for a while, but never could find it. Pat |
Those pics SUCK !
(that I wasn't there ! ) Thanks for posting. |
I loved the Andrews show when we lived in MD. I miss it, just not enough to go back.
F-22 demo scheduled at this year's Dayton show. I'll be there, in the back by the water tower. |
How can you tell? |
Why is the guys belt photoshopped out? |
Because I didn't want a certain leather belt to suddenly become ARFCOM's official belt. The clock diagram on the left side of the stock was something to do with the laser. The thing in the pouch looked like a GPS....not sure. |
I uploaded a few pictures of this really neat mini submarine from the NSW display.
View from the back. Passenger compartment. Cockpit. |
heh, cool. I used to carry that thing around on my back. USS Charlotte |
The prongs on that Mk18 look longer than the one in the BE Meyers advertisement, but maybe it's just the angle. It would make sense that they would use one that they could attach the KAC can to. |
