Well I'm guessing that O_P got called. He was getting some heat in that thread, and his phone number is publicly listed in the DNS registry for his site's domain name.
O_P, if you want to stay under the radar use a private DNS registration service, like domainsbyproxy.com. I do this for all of my domain names. |

Kind of a coincidence but I changed my cell number today because I was getting collections calls for the person who had the number before me. My voicemail message was somehow from that guy too. It was weird to come back and see it got shut down for calls...lol
Hopefully the kook gets exposed. Cant have kooks running around calling kooks for being kooks. |

People were looking into that. Brian's post explained the situation, as did mine. Somebody called Old_Painless' HOUSE harassing him and using profanity...and his wife picked up the phone. That's out of f**king bounds in addition possibly being against the law. As a result of that, Aimless moved the thread into the mod forums while some investigatin' gets done. That's pretty much all there is at this point. If/when staff finds out who did it, there will be consequences. |

So far there aren't any account locks from that thread...although the person who called O_P is going to be on a long vacation from the site when staff finds out who it was. We were all expounding on respecting other people's rights so why would someone call him? The hamsters are off balance for me on this one I guess. I enjoyed reading the thread. Some people were a bit bothered by the opinions of others but generally everyone kept their cool. I know I'm not the only one who appreciates seeing both sides to every issue explained and defended.
But sometimes all it takes is for one juvenile minded simpleton to screw everyone else. Normally, if someone wishes to soak up attention by trolling a thread, we'll offer a warning or two then kick them off the site. That allows the discussion to continue for everyone. However, there isn't much we can do when an adult with the mental capacity of a child chooses to break the law by harassing one of our fellow members. How quickly they forget that their misconduct can have a negative legal impact. It was just last week when we all read about a former member being arrested and having his entire firearm collection seized for -- harassing / threatening people -- on an internet discussion board. When / if we find out who did it, they will be turned over to the police. None of you should have to endure disgraceful behavior like that. I know we definitely won't tolerate it. Thank you to everyone who kept their cool while defending their opinions in that multi-page discussion. We had very opposing points of view expressed in there but everyone acted like a proper community and didn't allow themselves to fly off the handle. Good job. We staff and mods do appreciate it. |
