Too bad its made by Chrysler. That means the alternator will fail 8 times within two years, the head gasket will blow, and the heating system will fail. At least in that particular model the heat should not be a problem.

At least in that particular model the heat should not be a problem. I guess you know nothing about Chryslers then. in the past 21 years, my family has had at least 11 Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles. None of them has had any problems except for my 95 Avenger which is actually made by Mitsubishi. |

I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee that I'm very happy with, but my family has had 3 New Yorkers with less than pleasant experiences. The first one ('83) lasted the longest, going for 8 years through two tranny's, several alternators, couple head gaskets before it became no longer worth fixing. The second was an '85 which was owned for a period of two years in which the alternator crapped out 8 times, then traded in for the third - an '87. The '87 lost one of the adjustable shocks, making the car undriveable for a spell. Next, it blew the head gasket, then the computer went and the dealer never could get it working 100% again. The clear coat stripped off of the car giving it a wonderful dull finish in spots. Those problems all happened within 80,000 miles. So although we haven't had as many as you, you might see why I would be a tad hesitant to purchase another [:D] |

Actually, 4 of those were New Yorkers. The latest was actually an LHS which is the same thing sans chrome and a bench front seat.
But, none were in the same years that you had problems. Let's see...78, 80, 81, and 95 I think they were. I also left out my sister's LeBaron...so that makes 12. |

Ahh, it was rumored to me that the older and newer ones did not suffer the same type of QC/Engineering issues but I don't like the styling myself any more.
I *do* have a '53 DeSoto that is all original and runs fine, just has some minor transmission issues. |
