I just stepped up to my first "large" constrictor with a African Rock Python, I have experience with Retics but decided I love the looks of the Rock a lot better, and I still don't think I can completely trust a Reticulated, they can be right nasty sometimes.

Oh well he is a nice compliment to my Red Band.

Post pix if yall have em, I hope to get some scanned of my Rock here in a few days.

I used to own a small Ball Python.  His name was Elvis, and I inherited him from a friend who could no longer keep him.  He was a great pet, and much cooler than I ever expected a snake to be.  He used to curl up around my wrist while I programmed and would stretch out along the top of my keyboard to watch the monitor.  He died after feeding him a pinky mouse, and I have missed him ever since.  I keep wanting to get another, but I want to wait until my kids get bigger before I do.

fiance is afraid of them.  all my pets must adhere to the 3 F's rule:  fur, four legs, or fins.  alas, no snakes.

but i do have two green anoles.  my gecko died last summer.  i miss her.

While I haven't actually had one as a pet for some time now we occasionally will keep a snake for a few days after catching it out in the open.



Here is a picture of the last gopher snake that my dad caught while he was out on a 5k "fun run" in the hills.


My dad and I both stand right at 6ft 3in tall, after measuring this stupid snake with a length of line this thing came in at 7ft long!    Biggest we've ever caught or had around the house, he was pretty strong and LOVED to bite!   God, I actually sorta HATE gopher snakes because all the ones I've ever come across have been pretty ill-tempered.


King snakes however are quite possibly my most favorite snake on the planet, never been bitten and have kept quite a few of them from time to time.

I have a bunch......redtail boa, rosey boa, rainbow boa, retic, burmease python, and a borneo blood python.  All fun!

I used to own a reptile pet store in TX.
Had up to 100 in the house at one time as breeders. I dont have time for them and well my wife hates them. Now its just computers and guns.

My daughter has a Boa that's up to 6 feet now.  I say she has it, even though I get to buy frozen rats for it & feed it.  Great fun.  Lately the younger daughter has started volunteering to dange rats in the cage.  

I know what you mean about typing with a snake wrapped around your wrist (& arm & neck).  Once it finds a warm spot that it can hang on to, it sort of snuggles in & gets very quiet.
