Please post here if you gave the boot to Ebay and/or Paypal.

I'd like to see some numbers - and have one place that our collective effort can be quantified.

I used Ebay to buy reloading brass about 3 times a year for the last 3 years or so.  I generally don't pick up all I shoot, so I'd run low, then buy on Ebay.  Found some great deals.

But no more.

Kicked Paypal to the curb as well.

Fuck 'em both.

Subject: Account Closure Request

Close my account.

In consideration of your anti-gun stance - and now your anti-reloading supplies stance - I will cease all shopping on Ebay, and will close that account along with my PayPal account.

I will continue to use your site as a resource if I decide to shop for an item, but I will contact the vendor directly rather than use Ebay as an intermediary.

Signed,

Backstop73

Reason For Closing Account

We're sorry to see you go! Customer satisfaction is very important to us and the answers you provide below can make a difference in how we address the needs of our customers.

Where can we improve? What services or features should we provide? By sharing why you are closing your PayPal account, you will help us improve the overall PayPal service.

PayPal Policies / User Agreement terms (I checked this reason)

Comments:
Please enter thoughts or concerns about the PayPal service.

Close my account.

In consideration of your affiliation with Ebay and their anti-gun stance - and now their anti-reloading supplies stance - I will stop using my PayPal account.

Signed,

Backstop

Close Account

If you click the Close Account button all of your outstanding transactions will automatically be cancelled and your account will be closed.

Because your remaining balance is less than $1.50 USD (our check processing fee), you will not receive a check for your balance.

You have successfully closed your account.

I closed my accounts with them 2 or 3 yrs ago. I think it was when they would close and seaze account for the mere mention of "firearms" in the transaction.

Don't miss them.

CWO and legonas,

I can’t and won’t say anything derogatory to you two as I kept using Ebay and Paypal knowing full well of their anti-gun policies.

Their decision to not sell brass pushed me over the edge.

Surprised they haven't added a fee for closing accounts yet.

$1.50 for a check processing fee. I'd put $1.51 in there and have them mail you a check for a cent.

Dear rippler,

Thank you for writing to eBay regarding the status of your account
closure.

I have reviewed your account and can confirm that it is pending closure.
The account is currently blocked from bidding and listing. You may still
be able to sign-in, but will not be able to use the account to bid or
sell.

Please be assured that your account will be closed, and you will receive
a notification when this happens.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Simona P.

I quit using paypal years ago when they froze my account over nothing; I did some research, found out they were doing it everyone.  There was a class action lawsuit and everything.

I've always hated ebay, and when they bought paypal, that just cinched the deal.  I haven't used either of them in years.

I hate them both just like everyone here wants me to.

I signed up for "GearPay" who likes guns and stuff but I have yet to come across a vendor who is selling an item I cannot live without that uses GearPay.

So WTF?

WTF is a gun guy (who has wood for an arsenal addition) susposed to do?

I'm real rural and going to the post office for a M.O. is a major 20 mile hassle.

Yeah, I know: "Write a fucking check and drop it in the mail!"

But the Mrs. and I haven't written a check in over eight years. We don't even order checks from our Credit Union anymore.

We need a Reg'larGuyPal.com!

So who wants to start it up and make a fortune off gun guys like me?

ETA: Damn, I finally get to own a page? But what's the thrill? Where's my rush? I don't get a page buzz?

Also ETA: Why don't we firemission ebay?

We start crusin there and every single gun related item, or even remotely gun related, we report and demand they remove the offending item. We report any item that can be used for guns, like WD-40, 3n1 oil, etc. In other words we bombard them with pettiness and drive them crazy.

This will really put a dent in their business and if they don't remove the items it will expose them for the phonies they are.

I dunno.

There are a few things I regularly used Paypal for - I'm gonna have to find another option.

I shop about once a month online at Barnes and Noble, but plastic.

Like I said before, I only bought 19 times on Ebay with Paypal.

Maybe someone else will chime in here with a solution.

I'm closing my ebay account if the new rules go into effect.  I'm not conducting any business there until I see if they implement the new policy.  I was selling a lot of brass on there so I'll have to move that operation to gunbroker.com.  It really sucks because I've done a lot of business there and gotten some really good deals.  I guess I'll close the paypal account also.

I have some bad news for everyone....eBay and paypal could give a fuck if every person on this site dropped them. I'm with you guys about hating the way they are doing things, but I also hate the oil companies, the bankers, politicians, etc.

I'll drop them in the near future, I've got quite a few things i need to get rid of before doing so.

Those bastards are huge, if ebay was a country, it would be the sixth largest nation in the world.

Before you permanently close your account due to concerns about eBay's rules, we'd like to provide you with information about how you may be able to solve the problem you're experiencing.

There are rules that all eBay users, both buyers and sellers, need to know and follow.

These rules are created to protect you and to keep eBay a safe place to buy, sell and participate in the Community.

eBay's rules for buyers and sellers help ensure that transactions at eBay are safe and hassle-free.

Did this solve your problem?

No.  Please close my account.

Account Will be Closed

We have started the process to close your account. The process may take up to 180 days. Once your account has been closed, we will send an email to your registered email address.

We value your membership in the eBay Community, and we wish we could convince you to stay. A customer support representative may contact you to see if there's anything we can do to address your concerns.

Ha! Bet that will be a great exchange.

Ebay:  Backstop, why are you leaving?

Backstop:  Because you won’t sell firearms or reloading supplies.

Ebay:  Oh OK.  Bye.

I have lots of other hobbies/interests that I still use Ebay. And Paypal.

I dont have the time to waste to not support every little company that doesnt support the 2nd amendment. I perhaps should be a bit more vigilant, but I guarantee that you spend money with an anti-gun company somewhere down the line.

There are two places I do not use- monster.com and costco.

So I took the survey:

Please indicate which of the following reasons contributed to your decision to close your account. (Check All that Apply)

I do not agree with PayPal’s policies

Which of these reasons was THE ONE MAIN REASON you decided to close your account?

I do not agree with PayPal’s policies

Had you been considering closing your PayPal account for a while or did you just decide to on this day because of the reasons selected above?

Had been considering for a while

When you closed your account, did you …

Do it yourself online

Was this your one and only PayPal account, or do you still have a PayPal account that you will continue to use?

This was my only account and it is now closed

If PayPal would have done any of the following, would you have considered keeping your account open? Check all that would have made a difference in your decision to close your account.

Changed your policies

Lastly, which of the following categories best describes how you primarily used PayPal?

eBay buyer

The survey is complete.
Thank you for your time.

Yeah...fuck you very little.
