A custodian in my department approached me today about how she just bought a Winchester 1300 defender shotgun.  I congratulated her on her fine choice and then asked her if she realised that the NRA (among others) is responsible for preserving her right to buy a gun.  After a short, amicable discussion, I surfed over to NRA.org.  She filled out the form, and I paid the $35 for 1 year's membership. I'm not rich, but $35 to her is 5 hours of work.  I was happy to do it.  We might all have different issues with the NRA, but it is our biggest bastion.  The anti's are mobilizing.  We have to redouble our efforts.  If you know someone who has bought their first gun since sept.11, please accept the responsibility to inform them where that right comes from and have them join the NRA.  Whether or not you want to pay is up to you and depends on your situation.  Perhaps we can dedicate one range session per month in educating a newbie.  JMHO.

I've been paying for the ammo and supplying the guns for anyone who wants to go with me to the range. I'll also do the NRA class free.
